This position works in conjunction with the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient.ResponsibilitiesObserves assigned patient, maintaining a direct line of vision to the patient at all times and communicates unusual occurrences immediately to the nurse responsible for the patientAssists with maintaining a safe and hazard free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior, conducting patient room searches, reporting unsafe conditions, implementing safety interventions and applying appropriate emotional support.Orients the patient and patient's family to the facility and the policies and procedures Documents patient care activitiesProvides appropriate interventions immediately if the patient is attempting to participate in an unsafe activity e.g. climbing out of bed, attempting to ambulate without assistance, pulling at lines or tubes, displaying aggressive behavior; and seeks assistance as necessaryChanges bed linens tidies room and empties trash as neededProvides direct patient care under the direction of a licensed nurseMaintains clean and orderly utility roomsRequirementsHigh School DiplomaCurrent BLS CertificationCurrent Washington State Certified Nurse Assistant license requiredPrevious patient care experience, preferably in a behavioral health settingAbout Deaconess HospitalFounded in 1896, MultiCare Deaconess Hospital is a 388-bed acute-care hospital serving the greater Spokane region.
