Principal Data Center Commissioning Engineer at Oracle in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Job Description Oracle continues to grow aggressively increasing datacenter capacity globally and at significant scale in key markets. We are seeking to recruit a quality and commissioning engineer with extensive experience in the datacenter space to join the formed and growing Datacenter commissioning team. The team is responsible for setting the design standards for OCI’s partners be they colocation providers or developers. The team will be the center of excellence for all aspects of datacenter design supporting the compute, network and storage solutions deployed to deliver OCI’s world class and highly secure cloud services to the world’s largest and most successful businesses and the commissioning engineers will ensure our new facilities are fully tested and able to deliver reliable operation for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. In response to increased concurrent projects for the design and delivery of our datacenters, Oracle is recruiting a Principle Data Center Commissioning Engineer. The role is a senior multi-disciplinary datacenter design lead with a focus on IST and commissioning activities, charged with the direct interface between Oracle and our datacenter partners in the completion and testing of building systems to bring a datacenter reliably to ready for service. With extensive experience designing and delivering mission critical facilities and professional qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering with a commissioning focus the role is responsible for setting Oracle’s stance for commissioning activities and working with our design and colocation partners to ensure successful IST and move into operation. Full time opportunity, with full Oracle benefits. Candidate must be willing to move to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Travel is required and can be up to one week a month. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Project Management-Strategy Alignment: -Facilitates the commissioning of multiple projects and other design and engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry standards. -Leverages expertise to influence contract administration including generation and review of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents. -Aligns cross-functional teams on the budget and resources required for timely project completion. Project Management-Relationship Management: -Fosters relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to communicate expectations and ensure reports are provided reports on project updates. Project Management-Technical Documentation: -Guides the development of commissioning scripts and related technical documentation. -Influences collaborations with the general contractor to develop Systems Manuals documentation to serve as a reference for Data Center Operations personnel. Systems Design & Specifications: -Provides expertise in collaborations with engineering teams to create data center designs and specifications that align to operations and reliability requirements (e.g., power capacity, cooling systems), ensuring electrical and mechanical critical systems (e.g., electrical and mechanical plant, life safety, fire suppression systems, and control systems) are incorporated. Implementation-Testing: -Reviews analyses of key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout systems testing and recommends solutions to address observed trends or anomalies. Implementation-Troubleshooting/ Issue Resolution: -Resolves highly complex, non-routine issues with implementing mechanical and electrical systems. -Drives development of resolutions to common and repeating cases of issues. -Aligns team to best practices to troubleshoot and mitigate issues and reduce recurrence by aligning with major stakeholders. Implementation-Quality & Safety: -Prioritizes and updates quality and safety standards ensuring safety throughout project lifecycle. -Facilitates training programs for teams to ensure alignment on safety standards. -Stays up to date on industry standards and best practices. -Ensures external stakeholders and vendors maintain a common understanding of quality and safety guidelines to facilitate compliance. -Reports and addresses safety and security issues as they arise. Champions transparency and inclusivity by actively seeking, listening to, and incorporating diverse perspectives. Problem Solving: -Leads specialized, advanced problem-solving efforts, serving as an escalation point for complex issues. Guides others to leverage innovative data-driven techniques to address ambiguous or novel issues, identify root causes, and drives the implementation of solutions that prevent future issues. Continuous Learning: -Leverages deep industry knowledge and expertise to serve as a thought leader within the organization. Contributes to the advancement of the field or industry through thought leadership (e.g., conference presentations, white papers, research contributions). Maintains and evolves expertise in relevant areas by proactively monitoring emerging trends, technologies, and industry standards, ensuring the organization remains current with best practices. Champions continuous learning and knowledge sharing, promoting professional development across teams. Applies new knowledge to drive advancement and mentors others to do the same. Continuous Improvement: -Develops innovative solutions and drives the implementation of ideas that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of processes, protocols, and workflows across the organization. Evaluates effectiveness of updated approaches and methods for continued improvement to enhance efficiencies and ensure changes align with organizational goals. Designs and develops metrics to measure success of improvement initiatives. Performance and Development: -Serves as a subject matter expert regarding talent needs and organizational talent strategy. Imparts leadership and expert knowledge throughout the talent development pipeline including candidate interviews, candidate assessment, and hiring decisions, ensuring alignment with organizational talent strategy. Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only US: Hiring Range in USD from: $120,100 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
