Zurich is currently looking for an experienced Loss Sensitive Underwriter to join our Complex Casualty Underwriting team in the South region. We will consider having someone work out of one of the following office locations: Atlanta, Charlotte or Orlando/Maitland. This is a technical and market facing role working with our complex/loss sensitive casualty products and is a great opportunity to join an expanding team.While this position will be based out of one of our offices in the South region (Atlanta, Charlotte or Orlando/Maitland), you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers on a regular schedule.Our Underwriters are market-facing with objectives focused on profitable growth and superior service to our broker partners and customers and are responsible for:Generating, underwriting and analyzing domestic Complex and Loss Sensitive Casualty businessMarket facing and production activitiesComplying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rulesDeveloping and maintaining agency and broker relationshipsWorking within broad limits and authorities on complex assignmentsThis role will be filled at either the Executive Underwriter or AVP Underwriting Director level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.Executive UnderwriterQualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Brokerage or Market Facing areaORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaANDKnowledge of Microsoft OfficeExperience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal businessExperience working in a team environmentORAVP Underwriting DirectorQualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Brokerage or Market Facing areaORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support areaANDExperience with Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s DegreeKnowledge of Domestic Complex Casualty ProductsAbility to effectively assess riskStrong negotiation skillsStrong broker relationshipswithin the South regionSuperior skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiation.Possess a high level of customer service by meeting or exceeding broker and or customer expectations with respect to required deadlinesExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelinesYour pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience.
