Java Back End Developer

Description We are looking for a skilled Back End Developer to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. In this role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of mobile application back-end services for a large enterprise client. This is an opportunity to work within a collaborative environment alongside front-end and data specialists, focusing on impactful solutions. Responsibilities: u2022 Design, build, and maintain scalable back-end services using Kotlin and Java. u2022 Develop APIs and configure endpoints for production environments. u2022 Collaborate with front-end and data teams to ensure seamless integration across systems. u2022 Utilize modern frameworks and tools such as Ktor, Gradle/Maven, Liquibase, JUnit, and KoTest. u2022 Work within cloud-native environments, leveraging platforms like AWS Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, and Postgres. u2022 Implement trunk-based development workflows through GitHub to ensure efficient and collaborative coding practices. u2022 Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to maintain system reliability and performance. u2022 Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes. u2022 Follow best practices for software development to deliver high-quality, maintainable code. Requirements u2022 A minimum of 3 years of back-end development experience with modern programming languages, primarily Java. u2022 Proficiency in Kotlin or a strong willingness to learn it. u2022 Demonstrable experience in building APIs and setting up production-ready endpoints. u2022 Familiarity with tools and frameworks like Ktor, Gradle/Maven, Liquibase, JUnit, and KoTest. u2022 Experience working in cloud-based environments, particularly with AWS services such as Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, and Postgres. u2022 Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. u2022 Comfort with trunk-based development workflows and version control systems like GitHub. u2022 A solid understanding of software development best practices and a commitment to high-quality coding standards.
