Description Technical Writer, under the direction of the SDI & City of Chicago CDPH team, will work with cross-functional teams to prepare and produce high-quality documentations. The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing clear, concise, and well-structured documentation to support technical and non-technical users. This role requires close collaboration with data scientists, developers, IT engineers, project managers and subject matter experts to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of data ETL processes, software development, APIs, IT infrastructure, and cloud computing, along with excellent writing and communication skills. Content Simplification & Formatting u2022Translate complex technical jargon into clear, understandable language for diverse audiences. u2022Implement structured writing techniques to maintain consistency and readability. u2022Format content using industry-standard templates, style guides, and publishing tools. u2022Utilize diagrams, flowcharts, and visual aids to enhance comprehension. Document Management & Version Control u2022Maintain version control and ensure proper documentation workflows align with system updates and organizational changes. u2022Utilize documentation management tools such as Git, SharePoint, or OneDrive for collaboration and archiving. u2022Track feedback from users and stakeholders, implementing improvements in documentation over time. Collaboration & Communication u2022Work closely with data scientists, IT engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and validate documentation accuracy. u2022Participate in project meetings to stay informed of changes that require documentation updates. u2022Provide training or guidance on how to access and use technical documentation effectively. u2022Liaise with contractors and third-party vendors as needed to ensure cohesive documentation practices. Experience Level Entry Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $7.25 - $35.00/hr.
