BU Financial Assistance seeks an Assistant Director for Awarding andCounseling. This position helps achieve Boston University?s goals forrecruitment, retention, and superior service by assisting students andparents in financing their education through financial analysis,planning, and advisement. This Assistant Director reviews studentfinancial assistance applications, reviews/evaluates appeals, andverifies financial information. This role administers financial aidawards and will ensure that awards are in compliance with state andfederal regulations. The Assistant Director for Awarding and Counselingworks closely with the Office of Admissions, Combined EnrollmentServices, and Student Accounting Services to provide excellent customerservice for students and their families. This role also works closelywith academic advising offices and Dean of Students to resolve anystudent concerns. In addition, this role works with community-basedorganizations on college access initiatives. The Assistant Director?sprimary duties include: Managing a caseload of undergraduate students.Evaluating, analyzing, and processing detailed confidential reports todetermine student eligibility for financial assistance using bothfederal and institutional methodology. Counseling student and familiesto help them make informed enrollment decisions and plan for their timeat BU. Assisting the communications and outreach team in strengtheningcampus partnerships through presentations and events, both virtually andin-person. Ensuring that financial aid is packaged and disbursed and.Participating in internal committee meetings, such as the SatisfactoryAcademic Progress Committee. The successful candidate must reside withina 3-hour commuting distance of the University to attend occasionalin-person events as required.
