This role supports the development of audit work plans and project deliverables, including analyzing financial statements, reports, and accounting records of internal or external entities to verify accuracy and compliance. The Senior Associate shouldu00a0possessu00a0an intermediate understanding of accounting principles, federal financial regulations, and auditing standards tou00a0identify, investigate, and report discrepancies in financial data. When errors or irregularities areu00a0identified, the Senior Associate oversees the Associateu2019s work and communicates findings to the Audit Manager or Supervisor.u00a0 The following are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilitiesu00a0requiredu00a0to lead in this role.u00a0 Duties and Responsibilities:u00a0 + Plan and perform audit proceduresu00a0in accordance withu00a0Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and GAOu2019s Financial Audit Manual (FAM).u00a0 + Review and supervise the work of Audit Associates, providing guidance, feedback, and quality assurance over workpapers and testing results.u00a0 + Identify, evaluate, and document internal control deficiencies, noncompliance issues, and financial reporting errors, and communicate findings to audit management.u00a0 + Prepare audit workpapers, lead schedules, and summary documentation to support audit conclusions and ensure completeness of the audit file.u00a0 + Participate in client meetings, walkthroughs, and status briefings,u00a0maintainingu00a0professional communication with federal agency staff and external stakeholders.u00a0 + Assistu00a0in drafting audit reports, management letters, and findings, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with professional and regulatory standards.u00a0 u00a0 Applicantu00a0should have:u00a0 + Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in accounting or auditing, preferably with a public accounting firm or a federal Office of Inspector Generalu00a0 + Familiarity with the GAO Financial Audit Manual (FAM) and federal audit methodologiesu00a0 + Intermediate understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and working knowledge of AICPA, GAO (Yellow Book), and FASAB standards and requirementsu00a0 + Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to guide junior staff and review workpapersu00a0 + Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing project needsu00a0 + Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to accuracy and professionalismu00a0 + High levelu00a0of attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skillsu00a0 + Proficiencyu00a0in Microsoft Excel, Word,u00a0andu00a0PowerPointu00a0 + Willingness and ability to travel domestically up to 25%u00a0 + U.S. citizenshipu00a0 + High ethical standards and professionalism: Our positions require us to uphold integrity,u00a0maintainu00a0confidentiality, and approach our work impartially and objectively.u00a0 u00a0 Preferred:u00a0u00a0 + Masteru2019s degree in accountingor business administrationfrom an accredited universityu00a0 + Eligibility to sit for the CPA exam, oru00a0intentu00a0to pursue CPA licensureu00a0 + Internship or prior experience in auditing, accounting, orfinancial management,especially within a federal agency, Inspector General office, or public accounting firmu00a0 + Familiarity with the U.S. Standard General Ledger (USSGL) or federal accounting concepts under FASAB standardsu00a0 Clearance:u00a0 This position requires a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.u00a0Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance as a condition of employment.u00a0An interim Secret Clearance must be granted prior to starting work.u00a0 u00a0 Thrive in Your Career:u00a0 A Place Where You Belong -u00a0Excellence is at the core of our teamu2019s success.
