Human Resources Assistant STARTING SALARY: $59,123 JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Human Resources, the incumbentcoordinates the support for all leave of absence cases, workersu2019 compensation claims anddisability accommodations. Effectively coordinates all cases/claims to include generaladministration, comprehensive case management and program compliance with theFamily Medical Leave Act, NYSPFL and all related employment laws. The HumanResources Assistant also provides programmatic and administrative support for HumanResources and Building Management programs and functions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Responsible for the administration of leaves and related benefits for employees.Serves as the subject matter expert for leave administration and workersu2019compensation programs in alignment with the organizationu2019s policies, the governingcollective bargaining agreements, and state and federal leave laws.2. Interprets and administers leave programs and policies in accordance withapplicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA. NYSPFL, ADA, USERRA,Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.)3. Administers all aspects of workersu2019 compensation program by ensuring the programis managed and in accordance with applicable OSHA and workersu2019 compensationlaws. Provides case management and coordinates administrative aspects ofWorkersu2019 Compensation cases and claims. Conducts/coordinates investigationsinto all reported workersu2019 compensation claims.4. Independently approves and/or denies leave cases based on relevant medicalinformation. Coordinates and organizes all medical information and ensures thatHIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectivelyexecuted. Ensure that all reportable workersu2019 compensation claims are submittedto the insurance carrier with in 48 hours from the date of incident.5. Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration and workersu2019compensation programs.6. Facilitates the interactive process for reasonable accommodations under the ADA.7. Reviews monthly insurance and benefit plan bills and invoices, as assigned.8. Maintains the Human Resources Information System and maintains databases onworkersu2019 compensation leaves of absence; sick leave bank enrollment/rosters;seniority listings and other contractual information. Assists with maintenance ofbenefit information on CSEA intranet.9. Generates reports, analyzes leave trends, and provides data to management.10. Assists with calculations and effectuates changes in payroll based on contractualprovisions.11. Assists in the coordination/preparation of material and may attend and takeminutes of meetings.12. Assists in the coordination of staff events and community activities.13. Performs and/or assists with building management functions including themaintenance and tracking of AEDu2019s, building security/access and parking lotassignments.14. Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associates Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or a related field and twoyears of experience in administering employee benefits.ORHigh School Diploma or equivalency and four (4) years administrative experiencepertaining to employee benefits, labor relations or a related field.
