Job Title: Inspection Technician Job Description Join our team as an Inspection Technician, where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of utility-owned gas meters. This entry-level position requires a professional demeanor as you will be entering customers' homes and performing various inspections. Responsibilities + Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters. + Complete all necessary documentation. + Ensure readings and records comply with all company and regulatory requirements. + Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections. + Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys. + Perform audit reviews with operations and provide support during audits. Essential Skills + Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. + Professionalism and reliability. + Good communication skills with the ability to articulate job details clearly. + Basic mechanical ability, with a focus in cable technology, HVAC, piping, or auto mechanics preferred. + Physical ability to walk, climb stairs, and ladders for an 8-hour workday in all weather conditions. + Customer service orientation. + Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). + Intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and mechanical aptitude. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High school diploma or equivalent. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills. + Ability to work both independently and in a team setting with minimal supervision. + Experience interfacing with technical services, government agencies, emergency planning committees, emergency responders, landowners, and contractors. + 1+ year of professional experience and consistent job history. + 1+ year of driving experience. Work Environment This is a 100% field-based position requiring flexibility to travel within the utility territory, primarily in Fairfield and Hartford. Contractors are expected to communicate with their supervisor regarding sick time and attendance. Training includes OSHA orientation and in-class sessions, leading to certification testing. Standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, with potential Saturday shifts. Equipment provided includes a simple tool set, flashlight, gas detector, field binder, ID badges, tools/tool belt, handheld tablet, FR shirts, pants, safety vest, and hard Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your jobclassification and length of employment.
