Purpose Perform and track daily inspection of construction work on a variety of roadway projects. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction + Perform work under moderate supervision. Receive direction on moderately complex assignments, tasks, and execution. Work is frequently reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance. At the Operational and Company Level + Assist in the maintenance of existing client relationships. Do the Work + Observe and inspect construction work and prepare daily inspection reports and constructability reviews. + Oversee daily construction work including work zone traffic control, earthwork, erosion control, asphalt paving, concrete paving, drainage structure installation, reinforced concrete, and equipment installation. + Observe construction work in progress to ensure performance with specifications and contract documents. Review coordinated sets of working drawings. + Complete daily calculating, reporting, documenting, and communicating verbally and in writing. + Compute quantities for items such as concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage structures, and traffic control devices. + Operate company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment. + Analyze shop drawings of moderate complexity. + Maintain daily job log. + Refer and report problems and deviations from plans and specifications to management. Take part in reviewing submittals, assisting with RFI's, and other related activities. + May give some direction to contractors and act as field engineer representative and owner's representative regarding problem solving and field changes.
