Clear understanding of u201cBest Valueu201d. u2022 Develops advanced commodity knowledge, including understanding of equipment and small-tool repair costs and processes. u2022 Applies relevant purchasing/supply agreements to daily purchases. u2022 Creates and issues appropriate purchase documents (e.g., major Purchase Orders (PO), equipment rental / lease agreements / service agreement); administers these agreements throughout their term. u2022 Proactively expedites and follows up on all aspects of the entire purchasing process with suppliers to schedule deliveries and resolve material discrepancies, outstanding or overdue deliveries, warranty claims, return of material, and incorrect invoices. u2022 Ensures that all purchases are conducted ethically and legally in accordance with district/company policies. u2022 Maintains and develops marketplace knowledge and key contacts for products and services. u2022 Develops and maintains constructive, cooperative, and customer focused working relationships with suppliers, internal and external customers, and projects. u2022 Coordinates with suppliers, relevant internal departments, and project customers. u2022 Identifies current and future risks (e.g., schedule, price, supply, quality, service) and contributes to discussions to manage/mitigate those risks. u2022 Administers formal bid process (e.g., Requests for Quotes (RFQs), technical and commercial review, bid conditioning, award); negotiates procurement details with suppliers. u2022 Resolves conflicts concerning materials/services at the department and supplier levels. Escalates as required. Qualifications + Postsecondary diploma/degree in a related discipline an asset (e.g., business, supply chain management, logistics, warehouse distribution). + Working towards a procurement and equipment designation or certification considered an asset. + 4 years of progressive experience in in supply chain / procurement preferred. + General construction knowledge; understands specifications, methods, and procedures. + Strong verbal skills (expression and comprehension) and written communication skills. + Basic knowledge of commonly used construction materials, permanent/ nonpermanent materials, services, tools, and equipment. + Provides exceptional customer service. + Strong drive, time management, and sense of urgency: ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment. + Basic understanding and application of applicable laws and regulations related to procurement activities.
