ABOUT THE POSITIONWe are looking for a SeniorITInfrastructure Engineer to join ourIT Operationsteam and take the lead in designing,implementing, andadvancingcoreinfrastructure systemsto support VHB’s 30+ offices across the East Coast.This is a senior-level technical position. If you thrive on solving complex challenges, designing automated solutions, andoptimizingsystems for security and scalability, while working as part of a collaborative teamand mentoring others, this is the role for you.We’reespecially interested in someone who embraces software defined concepts across networking, storage, and compute;is inspired by DevOps workflows andinfrastructure-as-code; and consistently asks, “How can we automate this?”WhatYou’llDoITProjectsLead design, scope, and execution of majorIT infrastructureinitiatives.Identifyand implement automation opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency across infrastructureand endpointmanagement.Champion an automation-first approach to drive consistency, repeatability, and scalability.Develop strategies for hybrid cloud/on-premises environments tooptimizeperformance and cost.Leverage software-defined technologies (e.g., SD WAN,virtualization, policy-driven controls) to improve agility and reliability.Design and implement disaster recovery plans encompassing both cloud and on-premises systems.Continuouslytest, document, and automate recovery procedures.Maintain infrastructure documentation and environment diagrams,supportingorganizational changemanagementand operating procedures.Act asaSubject Matter Expert foridentity and infrastructure technologies.Providearchitectural guidance that prioritizes automation, security, and observability.InfrastructureManagementManage physical and virtual servers, storage, and network components within IT-controlled facilities and datacenters.Applysoftware definedapproaches and configuration management to standardize builds and reduce drift.Partner with the cloud team todeploy, configure, and manage cloud-based services and infrastructure as needed, ensuring integration with on-premises systems.Integrate automation pipelines that span on-prem and cloud for consistent delivery.Strengthen core infrastructure principles, including DRAS, storage solutions, LAN/WAN configurations, and perimeter security (firewalls).Evolve toward software defined networking andpolicy ascode to enhance security posture and speed of change.Providearchitectural oversight andguidanceforproductionVDItools (Citrix)to ensureperformanceand workflowoptimization.Collaborate with securityteamto ensure systems are secure and reliable.Implement zero trust aligned controls and continuous hardening through automated policies.Contribute toprocess improvements and help refineIT administrativeworkflows.Continuously assess “manual today, automated tomorrow” opportunities,participatingin VHB’s culture of “innovation as a daily habit.”Escalations & SupportTroubleshoot complex infrastructure issues.Provide mentoring for junior staff and guidance for escalated tickets.Serve as the final escalation point for advanced infrastructure incidents.Use incident learnings to create durable automation, documentation, and preventative controls.Providetimelyand professional communication toVHB staffand internal teams.Growth & DevelopmentContribute to a culture of innovation bydemonstratingadaptability, leadership, and strategic thinking.Exemplify VHB’s culture of continuous personal and professional growth.Demonstrate technical curiosity through proofs of concept, measurable experiments, and thoughtful adoption of new capabilities.Stay current on emerging technologies and theevolution ofproducts and servicesfrom key vendors.Collaborate closely and proactively across teams. Share knowledge through clear documentation,demos and mentoring.WhatWe’reLooking For/ QualificationsApplicants must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.BS in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.8+years of IT systems engineering experienceExpertisein Microsoft Windows Client, Windows Server, Active Directory, Entraand PowerShellExpertiseinfoundationalinfrastructure technologies, including hypervisors, DRAS, storage solutions, LAN/WAN configurations, and perimeter security (firewalls).Working knowledge of software defined concepts (e.g., SD WAN/virtual networking, software defined storage, policy-driven controls).Demonstrated experience with DevOps workflows and automation across build, configuration, and operations.Expertisein zero-trust principles and their application in endpoint hardening.Proficiencywith cloud platforms (e.g.,Azure,AWS,GCP) for integration purposes.Proven technical curiosity anda track recordof investigating, piloting, and deploying creative, robust, and innovative solutions.Strong documentation and communication skills.Collaborative mindset with a history of effective cross-team partnership and mentoring.Prepared to discuss prior initiatives-successes, failures, lessons learned-and how you translated them into automation and process improvements.Ifyou’reexcited by modern, software-defined infrastructure and an automation-first culture,we’dlove to talk! The estimated hiring salary range for this position in Massachusetts is $135,000-$165,000.
