DEPARTMENT: RecreationREPORTS TO: Athletic Program SupervisorSUPERVISES: Helps coordinate facilities and volunteers specific to the soccer program.STATUS: Non-ExemptSCHEDULE: Part Time - Up to 29 hours per weekFUNCTION: The person in this position will fill all soccer program needs and will assist with other programs as directed by their management. The Soccer Specialist will work a varied schedule based on the activities throughout the year. The nature of the task and responsibilities will change to some degree based upon the program they are assisting in; but their character and attitude must always promote the Christian faith and be in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.Summary:Supports the implementation and oversight of soccer programs taking place in conjunction with the Recreation Center. This could include monitoring the facilities, special events, classes, field trips and various programs (SK2, Summer Camps, Corps programs), leagues, and tournaments.GeneralDisplay good character and be passionate about impacting others’ lives through the realm of Sports and RecreationDisplay a good understanding of soccer. Use excellent communication skills to work positively with different populations and build rapport with clients Ensure that a safe and healthy environment exists for participantsGive the Athletic Program Supervisor advanced notice if unable to work any scheduled shift Will work evenings and weekend hours as needed for open gym and soccer programs.ResponsibilitiesGeneral Responsibilities for all Soccer Activities: Under the direction and with the approval of the Athletic Program Supervisor:Contact Athletic Directors and Coaches of Girls and Boys soccer teams to encourage participation in our programs. Develop and maintain an ongoing relationship with area soccer coachesCoordinate all referees needed for each leagueGet t-shirt designs and ordered for league playSubmit all required dates for gym use to the Fitness/Rec management team at least one month in advance of event.For all events, submit food and beverage needs to the Fitness/Rec management team at least one month in advance.Submit a Team Calendar listing all events with cost and marketing needs to Fitness/Rec management team one month in advance.Soccer Fundamental League/Clinics / Camps: Under the direction and with the approval of the Athletic Program Supervisor:Schedule time with Recreation and Fitness Management team to go over lesson plans, and age groups, etc.Have approved lesson plans written out and ready to be passed out to additional staffProvide all necessary information for registration forms and to promote the event to the Marketing Department at least four weeks in advanceLeagues & Select Soccer Teams / Leagues: Under the direction and with the approval of the Athletic Program Supervisor:Coordinate with Recreation and Fitness Management team ages of teams, uniform, prices, staffing needs, etcWill be in charge of:finding coaches for each teamrunning parents meetingHaving teams post their lesson plans for practicesSecuring all registration monies prior to the start of league playCoordinating games with other teams, home and awayProvide all necessary information for registration forms and to promote the event to the Marketing Department at least four weeks in advanceOpen Gyms - Soccer: Under the direction and with the approval of the Athletic Program Supervisor:Will be in charge of all soccer open gym timesKeeping accurate track of statsCollecting guest pass and entering into kioskKeeping order in the gym and taking care of any disturbancesRequesting additional staff as appropriateDevelop and launch Futsal and Futsal Jr programsAdvertising - Provide all necessary information for registration forms and to promote the event to the Marketing Department at least four weeks in advanceEnsure all open slots have been filledCollecting all feesContacting and scheduling referees for gamesCreating SchedulesCoordinating staff for stats, clock, water, etcOrdering uniforms/Shirts (If needed)Provide event information to manager for entry into Kiosk systemAdult Leagues: Under the direction and with the approval of the Athletic Program Supervisor:Collecting fees from membersContacting and scheduling referees for gamesCreating SchedulesCoordinating staff for stats, clock, water, etcOrdering uniforms/Shirts (If needed)Provide event information to manager for entry into Kiosk systemProvide all necessary information for registration forms and to promote the event to the Marketing Department at least four weeks in advanceKroc Park: Will assist with all aspects of opening and closing activities of the park.All other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Fitness and Recreation Management Team.A person of good characterAble to follow directionsWilling to work a variety of schedules as needed for programmingMust be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in EnglishMust be able to work well with othersIf this person will be needed to drive as part of their responsibilities, then they will need to have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Salvation Army 12 passenger driving test.The Salvation Army’s Mission StatementThe Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.Its message is based on the Bible.
