Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial reporting, tax compliance, and audit processes in our organization. Based in Westbury, New York, this role requires a highly analytical individual with strong attention to detail, adept at managing general ledger operations and ensuring accuracy in financial documentation. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in accounting, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external auditors. Responsibilities: u2022 Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts and analyze discrepancies. u2022 Prepare both standard and complex journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting. u2022 Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, comparing bank balances with organizational records. u2022 Oversee accounts payable and receivable aging roll forwards, ensuring alignment with the general ledger. u2022 Manage monthly inventory roll forwards and provide detailed reporting to the Director of Finance. u2022 Lead the month-end close process in collaboration with the Director of Finance. u2022 Prepare and file state sales tax returns on a monthly and quarterly basis, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions. u2022 Monitor and manage sales tax cash flow requirements in partnership with the Director of Finance. u2022 Compile and issue annual 1099 forms based on accounts payable records, adhering to strict deadlines. u2022 Develop year-end audit workpapers and analyses, coordinating responses to auditor inquiries. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles. u2022 Proficiency in document control, scanning, and compiling financial records. u2022 Strong knowledge of general ledger operations and reconciliation processes. u2022 Experience preparing sales tax returns and managing compliance across multiple states. u2022 Familiarity with audit preparation and responding to auditor requests. u2022 Ability to analyze and reconcile inventory and job costing records. u2022 Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. u2022 Strong communication abilities to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
