Your role and responsibilities As a Senior Research Scientist in Quantum Device Technology, you will perform research covering a broad array of topics in Quantum computing, influencing the functional and IBM strategy. You will have a vision of the functional or unit mission, understanding organizational resources, priorities, needs, and policies. Your primary responsibilities will include: u2022 Drive Research Initiatives: Perform research covering a broad array of topics in Quantum computing, including gates, coherence, design, simulation, test, tuning, photonics/interconversion, Josephson electronics, and device theory. u2022 Develop Strategic Vision: Influence the functional and IBM strategy, having a vision of the functional or unit mission, and understanding organizational resources, priorities, needs, and policies. u2022 Mentor and Lead: Mentor multiple people inside and outside the organization in both technical and career capacities, and lead teams or challenges to achieve overall functional program success. u2022 Build Relationships: Initiate and build new relationships with technical or business leaders, helping to make complex strategic decisions that require deep technical knowledge. u2022 Deliver Impact: Contribute to the development of IBM products and services through individual contributions and/or contributions of the team(s) / challenge(s) led. Required technical and professional expertise u2022 Deep Expertise in Quantum Error Correction: Experience with research in quantum error correction, including coding theory, mathematical modeling, numerical simulation, and decoding theory. u2022 Strategic Leadership: Experience in influencing functional and organizational strategy, with a deep understanding of organizational resources, priorities, needs, and policies. u2022 Technical Mentorship: Experience with mentoring multiple individuals in technical and career capacities, both within and outside an organization. u2022 Technical Decision-Making: Experience with making complex strategic decisions that require deep technical knowledge, and contributing to the development of products and services. u2022 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience with initiating and building relationships with technical or business leaders to drive strategic initiatives.
