GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of department leadership, performs a variety of duties related to preparing and serving meals to patients, employees and visitors; performs cashier, diet office, inventory/supply or dish room duties and other duties as assigned. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All employees will perform the principal duties and responsibilities listed below and will also be scheduled for any one of the following duty assignments u2013 which may vary slightly from business unit to business unit u2013 based on daily department operational needs: u00b7 Satisfactorily complete all functions of shift assignment prior to signing/clocking out. u00b7 Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition. u00b7 Reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. u00b7 Complete duties in a manner consistent with safety, sanitation and nutritional guidelines. u00b7 Attends meetings and in-services as required. u00b7 May participate on a Quality Improvement Team or other various hospital teams. u00b7 Performs other related duties as assigned. u00b7 Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, the Corporate Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. Cashier u00b7 Set up computerized cash register station for daily transactions. u00b7 Enter food and beverage charges into cash register. u00b7 Collect money from customer and issue change as necessary. u00b7 Enter customer cash and meal card credit charges. u00b7 Record cash register totals and physician accounts daily. u00b7 Close register at assigned time and bring cash drawer to cash control office for auditing and balancing. 7. Count and record amount of money in cash drawer on cash deposit slip. u00b7 Calculate end of the month physicianu2019s cafeteria charges. u00b7 Prepare cafeteria menu board identifying foods and prices of each item. u00b7 Clean refrigerators, freezers, and other food service equipment; replenish condiment table as needed; stock supplies; prepare/assemble required items for service; make coffee, refill dispensers, etc. Cafeteria u00b7 Portion and serve food to guests. u00b7 Grill or prepare food items for employees and visitors. u00b7 Prepare breakfast cold foods and set up serving line. u00b7 Check tables to make sure they are clean and clear of dirty trays. u00b7 Clean up servery and put away all cold foods. u00b7 Prepare salad, condiments, and garnishes for meal service. u00b7 Plate and stock dessert items. u00b7 Ensure that available tables are clean and set. u00b7 Maintain clean coffee pot and beverage area and make coffee as needed. u00b7 Prepare grab-and-go items for cafu00e9 cooler daily. Dishroom/Sanitation u00b7 Assemble, operate and disassemble ware washing machine. u00b7 Wash dishes, silver trays, etc., utilizing ware washing machine. u00b7 Wash pots and pans by hand utilizing three-compartment sink. u00b7 Sanitize equipment used in the preparation or service of food. (also falls under cooks) u00b7 Collect, transport and place trash in compactor/dumpster as needed. u00b7 Assist with maintenance of a safe work environment by sweeping or mopping as needed. Inventory u00b7 Assist with inventory and stocking duties. u00b7 Inventories Patient Care Unit par stock. u00b7 Generates order and delivers par stock to pantries. u00b7 Rotates par stock supplies. Other u00b7 All Food Service Assistants may perform other duties as assigned. u00b7 Collects and maintains patient food preferences and updates patient Kardex. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: + High School Diploma, GED, or six (6) months to one (1) year of previous work experience in a food service or cash handling setting preferred. + Able to read, write, speak English, and follow oral and written instructions. + Personal computer and data entry skills, preferred.
