Employment Type: Full time Shift: Description: Essential Functions - Appropriately manages patient care and health status after initiating a treatment/ preventive plan. Monitors and adjusts as warranted. u00b7 Responds correctly to patient-related emergencies. u00b7 Keeps current with Mercy standards of care including continuing CME requirements as required by federal and state regulations. u00b7 Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. u00b7 Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, medical records, billing and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. u00b7 Seeks consultation and advice by providing adequate information to consulting physicians and communicates requests effectively, or responds to such requests from the referral source in a courteous, professional, and timely manner. u00b7 Documents according to established guidelines to facilitate ongoing quality of care in a timely manner. u00b7 Performs appropriate medical procedures within scope of practice as defined by credentialing and privileging processes. u00b7 Monitors personal metrics regarding appropriate patient case load, quality, safety, financial stewardship, patient satisfaction, service excellence and citizenship. u00b7 Seeks physician support, expertise and training for cases and questions outside of knowledge and experience. u00b7 Discusses clinical performance, skill development, appropriate patient workload and acuity, and clinical outcomes with supervising physician as needed. u00b7 Actively participates in clinical quality improvement initiatives. u00b7 Supports appropriate billing for professional service through timely documentation and maintaining adequate knowledge of billing policies and procedures. u00b7 Participates in community relations as appropriate. u00b7 Participates in the training, orientation, and evaluation of support staff. u00b7 Regularly attends and actively participates in staff meetings. u00b7 Participates in community education, marketing, speaking and other professional activities to promote the professional practice of the physician and Mercy Clinics, Inc. u00b7 Demonstrates open, honest communication and behavior. u00b7 Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect for all patients, their families, guests, and representatives of other organizations as well as fellow employees, volunteers, and medical staff. u00b7 Maintains patient confidentiality and abides by all federal and state regulations in practice and billing. u00b7 Demonstrates responsibility for individual performance and efficient utilization of practice resources. u00b7 Follows established safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties in order to ensure a safe environment. u00b7 Demonstrates current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: u00b7 Must have and be able to maintain an unrestricted nurse practitioner or physician assistant license to practice in Iowa. u00b7 Board certification in applicable specialty that evidences the training and skills needed to perform the Departmentu2019s services. u00b7 Must become and remain an active member in good standing on Mercyu2019s Medical Staff (u201cMedical Staffu201d) with appropriate clinical privileges. u00b7 Must be able to maintain participating provider status with Medicare and Medicaid programs and not have been excluded from participation in any federally-funded health care program, including Medicare or Medicaid. u00b7 Must be able to maintain an unrestricted federal DEA number and applicable state drug permits. u00b7 Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
