Summary The position is located at the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC, In with the Mobile Ambulatory Care (MAC) Team supporting Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), Surgery and Medicine Outpatient clinics. The Licensed Practical Nurse provides high-quality nursing care across multiple departments, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and strong commitment to patient-centered care. Responsibilities Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Functions of Assigned Duties may involve the following: 1.Makes observations and thoroughly documents care and the patients response. Appropriately seeks assistance and guidance by informing RN or medical provider of changes in the patients condition requiring higher level intervention. 2. The LPN performs, reports, and records assigned nursing care in the outpatient clinics. 3. Adheres to standards of practice and safe technique in preparation and administration of medication. 4. Promptly recognizes urgent or emergent patient care situations, seeks assistance and effectively intervenes as directed when appropriate. 5. Based on the patients goals, provides patient and family health education, to include self management, prevention and wellness. 6. Interacts and communicates appropriately with patients and family members. 7. Demonstrates professional behavior (i.e., respect, civility, ability to accept constructive criticism), effective communication and interpersonal skills. 8. Adheres to principles of infection control, safety, and universal precautions. 9. Incumbent possesses knowledge of proper handling and pre cleaning of reusable medical equipment. 10. Demonstrates competence utilizing special equipment needed to perform job duties. 11. Follows policy and procedures related to fire and disaster drills, safety and security measures. 12. Serves as a resource and advocate in the protection of patient and family rights. 13. Completes mandatory reviews, including motivational interviewing, in order to promote patient self management toward individualized life plan of care. 14. Supports patient driven care in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner, using evidence based principles. 15. Promotes patient and personnel safety. Demonstrates competence utilization of Safe Patient Handing equipment. 16. Maintains current BLS certification. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
