Facilities & Maintenance Specialist Rochester, NY ( Job Type Full-time Description Position Summary East House is a dedicated non-profit organization committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. We provide comprehensive services, including residential support, counseling, peer support and community outreach to empower individuals to overcome mental health and substance use disorders and lead fulfilling lives. The Facilities & Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of the organization's buildings, equipment, and infrastructure. This role involves performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs to maintain a high standard of facility operations. The incumbent works closely with internal teams and external vendors to uphold compliance with safety regulations and ensure an optimal working and living environment. The Facilities & Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and upkeep of East Houseu2019s facilities, fleet, equipment, and housing units. This role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and assisting with property-related tasks. The Maintenance Technician will work closely with the Facilities Manager and team to maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment for staff and clients. Responsibilities Property Maintenance & Repairs + Performs scheduled and emergency maintenance, including painting, minor plumbing, lighting, HVAC, carpentry, and electrical work. + Conducts routine inspections of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical components, fire safety equipment, and building infrastructure. + Promptly responds to maintenance requests submitted by staff or management, prioritizing based on urgency; addresses work orders in a timely manner and documents completed maintenance and repairs. + Troubleshoots and resolves issues, identifies root causes, and implements the necessary repairs or corrective actions. + Provides status updates to management and escalate issues when necessary. + Maintains an adequate stock of standard inventory items to improve efficiency and reduce downtime. + Assists in the purchase, movement, and installation of equipment and supplies. + Work with program teams to identify and address property-related needs. Clean, Safe, & Functional Facilities + Conducts routine inspections to ensure that housing is safe and healthy for the people we serve. Inspections may include: + Random, weekly, monthly, and/or bimonthly inspections + Fire safety inspections + Move in/out inspections. + Routine inspections of HVAC and other mechanical equipment + Documentation as needed. + Performs routine facility upkeep, including but not limited to carpet cleaning, window washing, landscaping, snow removal, and general cleaning. + Works with leadership to assess facilities and prioritize maintenance plans. + Coordinates activities related to apartment turnover in order to ensure apartments have been cleaned, stocked and prepared for new clients. + Coordinates with vendors (cleaning, moving) as needed. Asset Inventory & Fleet Management + Develops and maintains an inventory of apartment furniture/necessities. + Collaborates with program teams to understand needs and develop processes that lead to property related efficiencies. + Responsible for assisting with the coordination routine maintenance and minor repairs on company vehicles, ensuring they are in safe and operational condition for daily use. + Maintains and helps manage facilities, vehicles, and equipment + Helps coordinate maintenance programs for owned and leases assets. On-Call Rotation + Participates in an on-call rotation for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours. Key responsibilities include: + Be available outside of regular working hours (nights, weekends, holidays). + Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests or system failures. + Troubleshoot and resolve urgent issues, either remotely or on-site. + Document actions taken during on-call shifts and follow up on any ongoing issues. + Provide status updates to management and escalate issues when necessary. Maintain availability and readiness to return to the site as needed. Other Duties + Follows all applicable policies, federal and state laws, and East House compliance standards. + Collaborates with the Office of Ethics, Compliance & Quality to address non-compliance, and document corrective actions. Working Conditions/Work Environment Must be able to work some evening or weekends as necessary, as well as be on-call for emergencies. Exposure to weather conditions. Occasionally subjected to pressure due to time demands. May have to travel to various program locations which may not be accessible for individuals with reduced mobility. Experience + 3-5 yearsu2019 experience in maintenance, property management, or a related field. Required Skills/Abilities + Effective written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with culturally diverse clients, staff and community service providers. + Ability to maintain professional practices, including confidentiality of financial, client and personnel information. + Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. + Basic Computer Literacy as evidenced by the ability to go online and conduct internet searches, check email account, create and send email with an attachment and use simple email features. Can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits. + Basic Microsoft Word skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files. + Strong troubleshooting and problem resolution skills. + Proficiency with maintenance management software or work order systems preferred. Licenses/Certifications: + Valid NYS driveru2019s license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle for work-related tasks, required + HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, or related certification highly desired. + OSHA and safety certifications a definite plus. Salary Description $20.15- $25.15
