Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education is responsible for the operational planning and expansion of services for the Orlando VA HealthCare System (OVAHCS). The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education provides leadership and oversight for both clinical nursing practice and administrative duties; establishes/promotes optimal standards in care delivery and develops policies/procedures which incorporate current evidence-based practice; works with peers to formulate strategic directions for Nursing Services; plans, implements, and leads activities to enhance customer service; and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to establish and sustain programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and overall health care delivery. The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services collaborates with appropriate Service Chiefs to support programs and processes that will enhance OVAHCS strategic needs. The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services is responsible and accountable for assessing and recommending the allocation of resources, both human and material, necessary to ensure positive outcomes for nursing education programs. Additionally, the Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services is responsible for developing future nurse leaders and expanding academic affiliations and partnerships with community educators in nursing programs. The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services will serve as a recognized leader in nursing education programs functioning as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor, providing leadership to interdisciplinary teams. The Chief Nurse for Education provides leadership and oversight for multiple educational programs: Employee Incentive Scholarship Program (EISP), the National Nursing Education Incentive (NNEI), the VA Learning Opportunities Residency (VALOR), and the RN Transition to Practice Program (RNTTP). The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services is instrumental in establishing and fostering relationships with Central Florida universities. They incorporate performance improvement and staffing effectiveness data to design effective, efficient care delivery models, manage assigned budgets, and establish staffing levels to optimally meet the needs of the service.The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services has responsibility and accountability for all nursing care activities in Nursing Education. The Chief Nurse for Nursing Education Services will serve as the direct supervisor of the Nurse Manager, Nursing Education and second line supervisor for staff, and professional oversight for registered nurses assigned to the Nursing Education Service.
