Reference #: 6201ABOUT THE ROLEThe Safety Specialist II works closely with field staff, clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel from external organizations during all phases of electric construction projects. Safety Specialist II's will support the creation of site-specific plans and be a mentor to other safety professionals within the company. The Specialist must be committed to ensuring adherence to safety-related policies, procedures, and regulations while developing positive professional relationships. Our specialized expertise, skilled workforce, and innovative practices enable us to be an industry leader supporting the clean energy transformation.Essential FunctionsConduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analysesProvide support to Operations organization for incident case management and documentation stepsFollow-up with Operations organization to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidentsComplete final review incident case management and documentationSupport company safety committees with assessment of safety performance trends, implementing process, and tool improvementsPerform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions to ensure a safety focus throughout all phases of electric construction projectsPartner with Operations leadership to create site-specific safety plans; actively participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition toolsParticipate in project kick off and progress meetingsCoordinate safety department meetings and action planning to provide technical expertise regarding safety and training topicsSupport client-specific safety requirements programs and ensure alignment and compliance between client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulationsEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safetyCoach and mentor project site personnel regarding safety practices and behaviors on an ongoing basisConduct proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessmentsCoordinate with Safety, Safety Training & Operations teams to schedule or facilitate required employee trainingsNew hire orientationOSHA ETD Quarterly refresher trainingCustomer required trainingPost-incident training as part of a Corrective Action PlanParticipate in site-specific safety planningProvide mentoring and coaching to lower level Safety personnelParticipate in safety department meetings and action planning to provide technical expertise regarding safety and training topicsRegular and predictable attendanceOther duties as assignedEssential functions of this position are to be performance at a Company-designated office or field locationUnderstand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standardsABOUT YOUQualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) field roles - requiredHigh school diploma or GED equivalent - requiredMinimum of one (1) safety certification is preferred, examples include: Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Specialist in Safety and Health (SSH), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)Undergraduate degree in in Occupational Safety & Health Management, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene or related technical field preferred; combination of relevant experience and education considered in lieu of degreeKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesDocumented experience with OSHA recordkeeping, reporting and Method of Procedure (MOP) writingThorough understanding of construction project management practices and proceduresAdvanced knowledge of local, federal and state regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safetyExcellent problem-solving and situation analysis skillsAdvanced proficiency with MS Office Suite programs, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPointEffective verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence behaviorStrong knowledge and understanding of OSHA and other industry-related safety regulationsMust be a team player with proven ability to work with co-workers, different departments and outside contacts and maintain strong relationshipsAttentiveness to detailsOrganizational skillsAbility to work independentlyAbility to travel for job site visits for extended periods of timeWHAT WE OFFERCompensation & BenefitsPosition may be subject to pre-employment screening, which may include background check and drug testing. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith.
