Director of Land

The Director of Land provides strategic leadership for the Division’s Land Department, guiding land acquisition, entitlement, and development efforts in support of the Indianapolis Division’s goals. This role is responsible for developing and executing the overall land strategy, including setting goals, establishing processes, and driving department actions that support both near term and long-term objectives. The Director of Land builds strong internal and external partnerships while leading, developing, and supporting the Indianapolis Land team.ResponsibilitiesLead the development and execution of the division’s land acquisition strategy to support current and future growthBuild, develop, and retain a high performing land team through coaching, mentoring, and shared accountabilityIdentify, evaluate, and secure land and lot opportunities, including financial analysis, negotiations, and contract executionGuide land planning, due diligence, entitlement, and development activities with a focus on thoughtful risk managementPrepare and present land opportunities and recommendations to leadership and the Land CommitteeReview and approve development budgets and schedules to support successful community deliveryBuild and sustain strong relationships with developers, brokers, municipalities, consultants, and contractorsPartner closely with Operating and cross functional teams to support timely community start-upsMonitor market trends and help shape strategies for new locations, product types, and consumer segmentsQualificationsBachelor’s degree required with 10 or more years of experience in land acquisition, entitlement, and developmentDemonstrated ability to lead, develop, and engage teams while delivering consistent resultsStrong understanding of the full land lifecycle, from acquisition through developmentFinancial and analytical expertise with experience evaluating land investments and managing riskClear and effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skillsAdditional Information .What We Offer:Come build your future with our winning team, recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For " 19 times David Weekley Homes builds in 19 markets across the U.S. and is one of the largest private home builders in America.
