We are looking for a dedicated Patient Care Technician - Specialist to join our dynamic 8B Gastroenterology Unit. Rotating and holiday/weekend shifts are required. The position offers opportunities for growth, with a clear career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead. A starting pay rate of $19.40/hour for Nursing Assistants is offered, based on experience and qualifications. Primary Responsibilities: + Perform patient care tasks, including ADLs, point-of-care testing, and basic medical procedures (e.g., IV/foley insertion/removal, specimen collection, wound care, etc.). + Assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies; report patient status changes to RNs. + Participate in patient/family education, quality initiatives, and department projects. + Adhere to safety policies, document accurately, and complete work efficiently + Transport cardiac-monitored patients and perform advanced tasks based on departmental needs (e.g., EKGs, NG tube removal). + Engage in continuous learning, feedback, and self-review. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Must also have either a) 2 years of general healthcare experience and meet requirements of Patient Care Technician - Senior title, OR b) 1 year of experience (defined above) and enrollment in PT/OT/PA program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, or c) 1 year of experience (defined above) and completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field. + Annual completion of a professional contribution to be determined after hire. + Successful completion of patient care technician specialist class. + Successful completion of basic information system training. + Microcomputer experience preferred. + Nursing Student that has completed one clinical rotation preferred Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred. + Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia course and annual competency required.
