We are looking for a dedicated Patient Care Technician - Specialist to join our dynamic 8B Gastroenterology Unit. Rotating and holiday/weekend shifts are required. The position offers opportunities for growth, with a clear career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead. A starting pay rate of $19.40/hour for Nursing Assistants is offered, based on experience and qualifications. Primary Responsibilities: + Perform patient care tasks, including ADLs, point-of-care testing, and basic medical procedures (e.g., IV/foley insertion/removal, specimen collection, wound care, etc.). + Assist with physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies; report patient status changes to RNs. + Participate in patient/family education, quality initiatives, and department projects. + Adhere to safety policies, document accurately, and complete work efficiently + Transport cardiac-monitored patients and perform advanced tasks based on departmental needs (e.g., EKGs, NG tube removal). + Engage in continuous learning, feedback, and self-review. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Must also have at least one of the below: + One year of general healthcare experience + 6 months of experience as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion + Enrollment in a nursing program with completion of at least 1 clinical rotation required + Completion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field + Nursing Students or those with EMT experience preferred Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) + Clearances with renewal:Act 31, 33, 34, 73
