Yes County Albany Street Address Empire State Plaza City Albany State NY Zip Code 12242 Duties Description Duties include but may not be limited to:u2022 Assist with performing landscape architecture design and project management duties to complete complex architectural projects for new and rehabilitation of building plans and designs.u2022 Prepare landscape architecture drawings and details, specifications, estimates, and/or studies for design projects under the direction of licensed staff. u2022 Prepare and coordinate design drawings and related specifications, construction costs estimates, etc., with the other disciplines.u2022 Assist in scheduling assigned projects according to workload, priorities, and design schedules.u2022 Assist in the review of reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates prepared by design consultants.u2022 Assist with the supervision of consultant design work.u2022 Develop and maintain project documentation, including records of meetings, correspondence, and progressu2022 Collaborate with senior designers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.u2022 Assist in review of submittals, respond to contractor Requests for Information, create and/or review Information Bulletins, and provide similar construction administration and observation during the projectu2019s construction.u2022 Assist with supervision of junior staff.u2022 Additional duties as assigned.Operational Needs:u2022 Travel may be required (approximately 20%). u2022 Possession and maintenance of a valid Driveru2019s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required.Note:There is no examination required for appointment to a NY HELPS position. Candidates hired via NY HELPS will be appointed on a permanent non-competitive basis and will begin a probationary period.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected that NY HELPS employees will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to take an exam. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.The Office of the General Services (OGS) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agencyu2019s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OGS Design and Construction (D&C) will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks. After the initial 8 calendar week restriction, if an employeeu2019s duties and work performance are aligned with telecommuting they may be allowed to do so. Upon approval to telecommute, OGS D&C employees may telecommute up to 4 days per pay period.This position is graded and offers a salary range from the hiring rate to the job rate for its designated grade. All hires begin at u201cStart Rateu201d unless prior state experience affords eligibility for hiring step increase as determined by OSC. Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS) and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position:Successful completion of Sections 1 and 2 of the New York Landscape Architect Registration Examination (LARE) and one year of experience planning and designing landscape development and site improvement projects, overseeing the construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of outdoor spaces and other open areas for transportation facilities, buildings, parks, historic sites, recreational facilities, campuses, gardens, playgrounds, and roads and highways; OR successful completion of 52 weeks of service as a Landscape Architect Trainee and successful completion of Sections 1 and 2 of the LARE.OR Current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a position allocated to an Assistant Engineer (Civil) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
