Your responsibilities will include: As the Education Program Consultant (IDEA Part B - 619 Coordinator), you will be an integral member of the team, providing technical assistance and guidance on the following: + Participating on internal (e.g., Special Education Team, Early Childhood Preschool Team) and external teams to implement IDEA Part B - 619 within a multi-tiered system of support (PK MTSS). This work includes: + providing leadership and facilitation for assigned teams; + engaging in collaborative work with other team members, including facilitating interagency partnerships with state and local stakeholders; + participating in regular meetings; attending trainings and reviewing materials; + ensuring Part B - 619 work at the Department of Education is reflective of the agency's priorities and goals, framed within the agency's approach to Preschool SDI, PK MTSS and scaling evidence-based practices using implementation science. + Fulfilling the role in federal law/regulations of state-level coordinator for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B - 619. This includes engaging in ongoing, regular meetings and coordination with colleagues in the bureau, Director of Special Education for the Iowa Department of Education, Area Education Agency personnel, and as needed with other Department administrators and administrative consultants. This work includes: + ensuring all relevant Federal and State reporting requirements and deadlines are met; + engaging with external technical assistance to inform Department decision making; + supporting representation of all relevant federal and state requirements in Department priority work (e.g., IQPPS, IDEA-DA, Preschool SDI, Differentiated Accountability). + Maintaining professional competency through review of professional research, on-site visitation of programs and continuing education activities. Participate in professional activities of bureau, division, department, and national and state organizations. + This work includes regular participation in bureau and division meetings, school improvement activities, assigned work teams, and other duties as assigned. OR 563 - Educational Policy: Applicant should demonstrate a minimum of 1 year experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in the area of developing and managing local, state, or federal educational policy. OR 570 Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Experience: Applicant should demonstrate a minimum of 6 months experience, 12 semester hours, or a combination of both in the area of developing and implementing a multi-tiered system of support for school children. This includes experience in all of the following: u2022 Evidence-Based Curriculum and Instruction shall be provided at the Universal level u2022 Universal Screening shall be used three times per year u2022 Evidence-based, instructional interventions at the Targeted and Intensive levels shall be provided to each student who needs them u2022 Progress Monitoring Data shall be collected and used to guide instruction u2022 Data-Based Decision Making Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: 1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and five years of full-time post-graduate work experience in any one or a combination of the following areas: a. Professional training, teaching, or counseling experience in an educational setting; b. Professional administrative experience in an educational setting; c. Professional finance, accounting, or auditing experience, including the preparation or analysis of financial statements; d. Professional experience in a major technical program area housed within the Iowa Department of Education; e. Professional data integration, data analysis, and statistical analysis experience; f. Professional communications experience, including public relations, marketing, or journalism; g. Professional school safety and emergency preparedness experience. 2) A combination of a total of five years of post-graduate education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited post-graduate college or university course work equals one year of full-time experience. 3) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masteru2019s degree, possession of a valid Iowa Teaching Certificate, and three academic years of teaching and/or administrative experience in PK-12 and/or a post-secondary educational institution. 4) Possession of a School Business Official Authorization from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and seven years of full-time professional experience in finance, accounting, or auditing, including the preparation or analysis of financial statements.
