Actual salary offered may vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, an individual's location and their knowledge, skills, and experience as well as internal equity.TO APPLY:Direct Link: Page: note, employers may close jobs on the website at any time.SUMMARY:This position is responsible for providing timely preparation and distribution of medications and IV solutions within the hospital in conjunction with established guidelines, policies and procedures, and statutory requirements.MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:Education:Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English. Prefer high School Diploma, (or equivalent), proficient math skills. Recognized Pharmacy Technician training program, nationally certified (CPhT), and/or Registered Pharmacy Intern preferred.Experience:Specialized training is encouraged, and can be enhanced by completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician training program, 1 year prior experience in a hospital or community pharmacy, or be enrolled in an ACPE accredited PharmD program if applying as a pharmacy intern.For 200234, two (2) years of sterile compounding experience required, sterile chemotherapy preparation preferred.License(s):Registered by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technician in Training, or as a Pharmacy Intern. Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician or as a Pharmacy Intern by first work anniversary.Certification(s):puter / Typing: Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Typing: 30 wpm.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:The incumbent is expected to provide optimal patient care by recognizing differences in drug therapy (i.e drug, dose and frequency) in pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric tra-departmental activities, such as inventory ordering and billing procedures, can be done without the direct supervision of the pharmacist. Incumbent is challenged to assist the pharmacist in the timely and accurate distribution of medications. Questions involving medication use or therapeutics must be referred to the pharmacist and good judgment is required when other types of information is provided by the technician.The incumbent is responsible for entering medication orders into the pharmacy computer system; this involves maintaining and updating the patient pharmacy profile; discrepancies, interactions for outpatient prescriptions and all therapeutic questions are to be referred to the pharmacist. The incumbent prepares medication cassettes and delivers to nursing units throughout the hospital (inpatient only). The incumbent is expected to pull, prepare and label medications based on the orders entered by a pharmacist. The incumbent pulls and delivers medications for automated dispensing machines.The incumbent is challenged to assist in the training of new technicians.The incumbent will be required to work varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the department which operates 24 ours a day, 7 days a week (Cost Center 200 only). Overtime may be required. The incumbent is expected to attend on a regular basis staff meetings, technician meetings, etc.
