Facilities Maintenance Support I - Airport

The City of Billings is seeking a candidate for Facilities Maintenance Support I -- Airport -- to perform routine cleaning and sanitation of assigned facilities and grounds. Duties include cleaning floors, walls, windows, sidewalks, restrooms, work areas, break areas and public access areas of public buildings. Duties include removal of waste materials and collection of recyclable materials. Duties may include being observant of potential safety and security problems. Additional duties include light mechanical repair.Salary Range: $16.6357 - $18.3475 per hour. Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 3 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon applicant's education, experience, and training.Work Schedule: Five (5) 8-hour shifts per week, Midnight (12:00 a.m.) to 8:30 a.m.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:u2022 Uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers, as well as hand cleaning supplies to maintain facilities.u2022 Safely uses cleaning chemicals, some of which may be caustic or may produce toxic gases if improperly mixed with one another.u2022 Removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling materials to proper collection locations.u2022 Removes snow from sidewalk areas and ensures that ice conditions are treated.u2022 Waters plants inside buildings and in the immediate outdoor areas.u2022 Cleans break areas, offices, public and operational areas.u2022 Cleans and maintains supplies in restrooms.u2022 Performs a regular cleaning and janitorial materials inventory and notifies the supervisor when material stocks are low.u2022 May order department supplies to maintain a working inventory, preparing purchase orders for replenishment as directed by policy.u2022 Receives janitorial supplies and stores them in designated areas.u2022 Observes people or conditions that may present a threat to safety and security and reports them to the proper authorities.u2022 Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.u2022 Observes burnt out lights and either repairs them or reports them to maintenance staff for correction.u2022 Observes unattended packages left in the facility and calls for assistance if there is a possibility of a hazard.u2022 Monitors all building systems as directed and calls trained maintenance staff.u2022 Paints walls in assigned areas.u2022 Replaces light bulbs or light switches, following basic safety practices for use of ladders and exposure to electricity.u2022 Moves office partitions and furnishings or assists others with moves.u2022 Assist with security measures and participate in Airport emergency plans.u2022 Perform security sweeps and report violations of airport security measures.u2022 Lock and secure building at night.u2022 Help during emergency events and training.u2022 May replace air filters in HVAC equipment.u2022 May assist Building Maintenance Mechanics with routine maintenance, such as replacement of equipment.u2022 May set up tables and chairs for events and return them to their normal locations afterwards.u2022 May set up AV equipment and secure it following use.u2022 May provide routine responses to the public on basic questions such as directions.u2022 Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications/Skills:u2022 The ability to answer basic questions in a courteous manner.u2022 A valid Montana driver's license, or one must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.u2022 Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and a federal fingerprint based criminal history background check.u2022 Must be able to read, write, interpret written instructions and complete simple math.Preferred Qualifications/Skills:u2022 A high school diploma or equivalent.u2022 Custodial experience.Equal Opportunity Employer.
