May perform arterial/venous cannulation (inclusive of radial artery, umbilical artery and umbilical vein) under direct supervision, or independently after completion of documented competency.Proactively initiates process improvement ideas. Assists with clinical instruction and new orientee staff precepting and serves as a resource person to lower-level therapists. Serves as a consultant/resource for Pediatric Emergency department respiratory patients. Supports hospital and department mission, goals, and department metrics. Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis. Documents and charges for procedures neatly, accurately, thoroughly, and completely to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital.Performs hemodynamic procedures, including assembly and calibration of arterial lines, assisting with pulmonary artery catheter insertion, and performing cardiac output and hemodynamic profiles.Responds to Code Blue emergencies, providing CPR and performing airway maintenance and procedural respiratory support.Utilizes patient assessment skills, protocols, and multidisciplinary team consultations to determine therapy efficacy and make appropriate recommendations.Performs respiratory therapies, oxygen delivery therapies, and makes recommendations for efficient delivery methods.Obtains, analyzes, and reports findings of arterial blood gases, co-oximetry, and performs quality itiates, maintains, transports, and monitors mechanical ventilators, including conventional and non-conventional modes of ventilation.Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures, including equipment setup and breakdown.Provides effective patient education on therapy modalities to patients and their families.Demonstrates knowledge of infection control methods, safe body mechanics, and applicable regulations and standards.Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures according to established standards and terprets evaluations and test results to determine appropriate treatment plans in consultation with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.Assesses, stabilizes, and treats neonates and pediatric patients according to established respiratory services protocols.Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:ABG Puncture and Analysis [Required]Advanced CPR and airway management [Required]Oscillatory Chest Physiotherapy Applications [Required]Application Non-Invasive Oxygen Therapies & devices [Required]Respiratory Monitoring Pulse oximetry applications [Required]Medicated Aerosol Therapies, Bronchial Hygiene Therapies, Lung Expansion Therapies [Required]Basic Spirometry [Required]Routine Oxygen Delivery, Devices, and Oximetry [Required]Non-Invasive High Flow Therapy [Required]Non-Invasive Heliox Therapy [Required]Basic Tracheotomy Care [Required]Advanced Tracheostomy Care including tracheotomy tube change & de-cannulation [Required]Non-Invasive Bilevel Application & Management [Required]Non-Invasive End Tidal Co2 Capnography Application & Monitoring [Required]Invasive End Tidal Co2 Capnography Application & Monitoring [Required]Basic Airway Management, Suctioning [Required]Bronchoscopy Assist [Required]Advanced Conventional & Non-Conventional Ventilator Management [Required]Utilize and adapt to State of the Art Technology, Computer Systems and Applications [Required]Effective Oral and Written Communication [Required]Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring & Applications [Required]Arterial/Venous Line Cannulation Validation (Radial artery, Umbilical artery/Umbilical vein) [Required]Endotracheal Intubation Validation [Required]Nitric Oxide Therapy [Required]Advanced Airway Management [Required]Pediatric//Neonatal Oscillator Applications & Management [Required]Pediatric//Neonatal Proning Protocol Applications & Management [Required]The anatomy and physiology of the Pediatric//Neonatal cardiopulmonary system and associated pathophysiology. [Required]Respiratory Care management of Pediatric//Neonatal diseases [Required]Respiratory equipment used in the PICU, including, but not limited to therapeutic, monitoring and diagnostic equipment.
