Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration:BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.Education:Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire required.Additional Preferences Nurses on the Multispecialty MedSurg unit have a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative framework with the interdisciplinary team. Patients often have multiple diagnoses including, but not limited to, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, acute and chronic liver failure, diseases of addiction, and diabetes mellitus.General Internal medicine teaching services including medical students, interns, residents, and Primary hospitalists attending providers, are the primary teams caring for the patients along with subspecialties such as nephrology, immunology, infectious disease, endocrinology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, and geriatrics.Nurses are highly competent, adaptable, and trained to meet the needs of both general acute care and some progressive care acuity patients. Our team of nurses excel at communicating and collaborating with care teams to promote smooth transitions among levels of care. Discharge planning is an important component of the patient's care; nurses collaborate daily with case managers, social workers, pharmacists, and therapists to develop individual patient care plans.Critical thinking, problem solving, and a desire to provide high quality care in a learning environment is important and there are many opportunities throughout the year on Multispecialty MedSurg to attain new knowledge and grow your nursing practice.
