Join us this summer as a Vet Student Summer Associate and continue your amazing growth within this profession. Duties:In this role, expect to perform work comparable to a veterinary assistant and also to be included in case discussions, participate or shadow in procedures or surgeries of interest, and work on your professional goals. Your responsibility is to support the doctors and other team members in providing high quality medicine in a friendly and efficient manner that ensures excellent service to our clients and patients. You will report directly to the Hospital Manager (HM), with accountability to the Medical Director (MD). Our services are provided in a clean, safe, and friendly environment and our goals are to work as a team, complementing each other’s talents and retaining a positive attitude.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Foster an educational experience for the clientProvide exemplary communication and customer serviceConduct follow up correspondenceProvide cleaning and maintenance for medical and office equipmentAssist in outpatient exam flow, including patient restraintProvide appropriate skill level care and treatments for hospitalized patientsPrepare testing for in-house or referral laboratory properlyRestrain patients for digital radiographsVerify and fill patient prescriptionsEnsure cleanliness of exam rooms, surgical areas, and treatment areaAnswer and direct multiple phone linesRespond to emails in a professional, timely mannerMaintain accurate medical recordsPrepare and process scans and referral reportsLearn, use, and improve estimates, fee schedule, and other operational documentsPerform other duties as assignedCandidate Requirements:UVC’s Veterinary Student Summer Associate roles are available exclusively for current veterinary students at AVMA-accredited vet schools. Availability for at least 8 weeks over the summer to work within our hospitalExcellent communication skills with clients and team membersProficient time management, ability to problem solve, learn, and handle multiple tasksEnthusiastic team player with a patient, positive, and professional attitudeMust be able to move equipment and/or patients weighing up to 40 pounds
