Description The Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing produces nurse leaders who are transforming health care through science, education, practice, and policy worldwide. The school has more than 1500 students enrolled in its bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Graduates go on to become national and international leaders in patient care, public health, government, and fiscal year 2025, the school received $40.2 million in research funding and, in 2024, was ranked No. 3 in National Institutes of Health funding among nursing schools. U.S. News & World Report ranked the school’s graduate programs number one in the country and its bachelor’s program is ranked number two.Working directly alongside the Dean of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, and in close collaboration with the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, the Senior Vice President for Finance and Treasury and CFO and The Senior Vice Provost for Academic Finance and Operations; the Associate Dean, Finance & Chief Business Officer (hereafter referred to as Associate Dean) is entrusted with fiscal oversight, responsibilities, and accountabilities for the School. The position serves as the principal non-academic officer responsible for all of the school’s financial services operations and strategic planning for long- term programmatic and space demands. As the School’s chief financial officer, the Associate Dean provides overall financial and strategic direction for the total budgetary and fiscal affairs of the school inclusive of planning, monitoring, and controlling the overall financial plans and policies. The Associate Dean coordinates school-wide strategic planning and responds to the demands, costs, and fiscal interests throughout the school while protecting school assets and ensuring its fiscal viability as it supports the University’s and Woodruff Health Sciences Center’s missions of education, research, and patient care. This position oversees an annual operating expenditure base for the school totaling approximately $126M, which includes annual sponsored research funding totaling approximately $30.2M. The School of Nursing has a $103.3M endowment.The Associate Dean is accountable and responsible for successfully planning, implementing, and achieving the School of Nursing’s fiscal missions and goals. Key responsibilities include strategic analysis and planning; tuition analysis; long-term space planning; and, financial management including budgeting, developing and maintaining performance measures, resource allocation methods, and management reporting of fiscal operations.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves as the principal non-academic officer responsible for all of the school's administrative operations, financial services, and business activities. Provides overall administrative, financial, and strategic direction for the total budgetary and fiscal affairs of the school; inclusive of planning, administering, monitoring, and controlling the overall financial plans, policies, and programs. Directs school-wide progressive planning and response to demands, costs, services, technology, regulations, and fiscal interests throughout the school while protecting school assets and ensuring its fiscal viability. Supports the Woodruff Health Sciences Center's missions of education, research, and patient care. Oversees annual operating expenditure base for the school, including annual sponsored research funded expenditures. Has administrative, support, and business responsibilities in all non-academic areas in which the Dean has responsibilities. Has accountability and responsibility for successfully developing, promoting, implementing, and achieving the School of Nursing's administrative, business, and fiscal missions and goals. Key responsibilities include: strategic/operational planning, business program development, tuition analysis, space planning and facilities management, human resources, and financial management including budgeting, developing and maintaining performance measures, resource allocation methods, information systems, and management reporting and communications infrastructure. Performs related responsibilities as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, healthcare administration or a related field. Ten years experience in financial administration in university, healthcare, or nursing education, both operational and fiscal to include prior P&L responsibilities. Master's degree preferred. Demonstrated leadership in strategic planning, fiscal policy formation, and managing resource allocation processes, including documented results.NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA.
