Systems Engineer - Windows

As our Systems Engineer-Windows, you will be responsible for administering and supporting complex systems, resolving escalated service issues, and maintaining the health of assigned systems to ensure system availability and performance to meet organizational requirements. This role is a key support position within the Information Technology department and will be called upon to assist in the resolution of technical issues. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting, and capacity planning to support enterprise growth and the corporate business plan.*This position is onsite in Omaha, Nebraska.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsResponsible for the installation, maintenance, and performance of the Windows systems (on-prem and AWS), middleware and software, including hardware (physical and virtual) to support a high volume of transactions with high availability and failover capabilityManage and support virtual infrastructure using VMware and Hyper-V, including support of storage and system backupsCollaborate with engineers or software developers in evaluating design solutions and vendor products to determine those that best meet company needsAssists in identifying system data, hardware, or software components required and in monitoring system performance, integrity and securityResponsible for providing system security and performance reports to management and to alert management of any suspected issues Assists in system hardware, cloud infrastructure and software patching, upgrades and coordinates system wide maintenance procedures to ensure system availabilityEnsures patching of systems within area of responsibilityParticipates in scheduled on-call duties: Must be available 24 hours/day to receive calls, investigate and solve issues during on-call assignmentWork requires in-person collaboration among colleagues and contractorsMust be able to attend face to face meetings on short or little noticeAbide by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company Maintains regular and predictable attendanceMarginal FunctionsPerform other related duties and projects as assignedHere’s what you need to join the fun:Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExcellent communication skills both written and oralSelf-motivated, goal-oriented, team player, and possessing proven problem-solving skillsSelf-starter with proven track record of delivering resultsStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server OS and Active DirectoryExperience with VMware ESXi, vCenter, and Hyper-V virtualization platformsFamiliarity with AWS services, IAM, EC2, and cloud best practicesExperience with SAN storage technologies and performance tuningProficiency in backup and disaster recovery solutions (Rubrik, Cybernetics)Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 administrationMust become proficient in Oriental Trading Company operational procedures and systems capabilitiesEducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience3-5 years of experience in a systems engineering or administration roleHands-on experience with Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, and backup systemsExperience supporting enterprise IT environments and participating in IT projectsOther QualificationsAbility to perform job duties in a safe and secure mannerJoin us at Oriental Trading, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, where fun means business!
