This position will provide biologists with 2-6+ years of of experience to support a variety of projects in the Pacific Northwest, including projects related to utility infrastructure upgrades and renewable energy generation and storage. Strong candidates will have extensive outdoor experience, particularly through agencies, volunteering, or graduate schoolwork. Candidates with strong writing skills and a desire to assist with reporting will be given the chance to do so.Duties and ResponsibilitiesConduct site assessments, surveys, and habitat evaluations for common and special-status plant and wildlife species and map vegetation communitiesConduct wetland delineations pursuant to federal and state requirementsRecord and take notes on a mobile deviceFollow all Dudek and project site safety protocolsHike long distances in potentially inclement weather, heat, and rough terrainApply a high level of attention to detail and work independently and as a part of a teamMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, or other related field; OR a minimum of 1-3 years demonstrated field experience in biological resource management and surveyingKnowledge of and ability to identify Oregon and Washington wildlife and/or plant speciesMust possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employmentPreferred Qualifications2-6+ years of experience in environmental field settings in Oregon and WashingtonUnderstanding of and familiarity with environmental regulations and permitsStrong botanical knowledge including experience identifying common and rare plant species and/or using dichotomous keys to identify Pacific Northwest plants.Experience executing species-specific survey protocols, e.g., marbled murrelet, western toad, northern spotted owl, northwestern pond turtle.4-wheel-drive experienceProfessional Wetland Scientists (PWS) or Wetland Professionals in Training (WPIT), are preferred.Compensation: $25.00-$35.00/hourly**Finalagreed-upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check prior to beginning employment.Working ConditionsThis joboperatesin an outdoor or office-basedenvironmentand this role routinelyusesstandard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, etc.This job requires project site visits, basedoutdoorswhich can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, and moving vehicles and equipment.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
