Monte Rosa Therapeutics (MRT) seeks to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and highly talented medicinal chemist who is eager to discover molecular glue degraders (MGDs) that eliminate disease-causing proteins previously thought undruggable.This position plays a key role in advancing our drug discovery projects from Lead Identification through development candidate nomination and beyond, while also enhancing the MRT degradation platform. The successful candidate should have state-of the-art medicinal chemistry expertise in small molecule drug discovery, prior experience collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams, and a passion for advancing projects towards clinical development candidates.Devise and implement medicinal chemistry strategies to advance projects from hit validation through lead optimization to development candidatesAnalyze High Throughput Screening (HTS) output with the goal of identifying promising starting points for hit generation chemistry from our growing MGD libraryDevelop hit follow up and lead generation strategy for discovery targets in collaboration with discovery scientistsProvide chemistry progressability assessments for early targetsFamiliarity with key concepts and optimization strategies in medicinal chemistry including a clear understanding of ADME propertiesServe as chemistry project lead for protein degradation projectsEfficient and timely execution of compound syntheses through our CRO network, by devising efficient synthetic routesCollaborate with external research partnersCommunicate scientific findings and project updates to senior leadership and governance Summarize and publish findings in manuscripts and patents when appropriatePhD in synthetic organic/medicinal chemistry with 4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry, or MS with 8+ years of experience is acceptableExperience in the field of Targeted Protein Degradation is preferredStrong expertise in High-Throughput Screening (DEL, ASMS, etc) analysis and subsequent follow-up studiesExperience of managing CROs is essentialFamiliarity with early stages of pre-clinical research in drug discoveryHigh level of proficiency with databases, data analysis and visualization tools Proficiency in complex molecule synthesis and/or synthetic method development experienceExcellent teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in global, cross-disciplinary drug discovery teams (biochemistry, biology, structural biology, CADD, and DMPK)Excellent written and oral communication skills
