Job Description

The CAD Designer II is responsible for developing and maintaining accurate 3D models and 2D engineering drawings in support of tire development and manufacturing. This role works under the guidance of senior Designers and Engineers and collaborates closely with Tire Development Engineering teams to translate technical requirements into detailed CAD deliverables.The CAD Designer II supports drawing quality by checking and correcting work produced by other Designers and contributes to continuous improvement of design standards and processes. The CAD Designer II actively participates in workflows, including model management, version control, and release processes. This position plays a key role in generating CAD data required for the procurement and manufacturing of experimental and production tires.Collaborate with Tire Engineers to create and revise 2D drawings (e.g., tire profiles, sidewall layouts, mold-related drawings) in accordance with established design standards, based on existing model sizes or defined parameters.Develop and modify 3D CAD models with direction from Engineers and senior Designers to support product development and tooling requirements.Perform drawing checks on work completed by other Designers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards; make corrections as required.Revise drawings and models in response to engineering changes, design reviews, and manufacturing feedback.Identify potential design or documentation issues early and work with Engineers and Designers to resolve them with minimal supervision.Prepare, manage, and release drawings and associated documentation, including publishing and maintaining PDF files ensuring released documentation is current, accurate, and accessible to downstream users.Provide general CAD and documentation support to Engineers and Designers as needed.Participate in continuous improvement of CAD practices, templates, and standards.Perform other duties as assigned in support of the development and manufacturing process.Good written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively within a team environment and follow directions from Engineers and senior staff.Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret engineering concepts, specifications, and design intent.Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software such as PTC Creo (preferred), AutoCAD, and/or CATIA.Working knowledge of drawing creation, revision control, and document management practices.Ability to check drawings for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with standards.Understanding engineering change processes and their impact on CAD data and documentation.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field preferred.2-5 years of experience in a CAD drafting or design role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Experience using Creo and Windchill in a production or enterprise environment preferred.Experience in the tire, rubber, automotive, or mold/tooling industries is a plus but not required.Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time while working on a computer.Ability to repeat motions that include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.Must be able to occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds.
