Summary The Deputy Chief of Staff is a key member of the senior leadership team, and actively participates in the development of overall management objectives and philosophies necessary for the attainment of optimum efficiency in providing health care to South Texas Veterans Health Care Veteran population. Responsibilities This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT & will remain open until July 17, 2026 or until positions are filled. The Deputy Chief of Staff is responsible for the coordination of clinical activities, clinical staff and administrative oversight. Primary duties include but are not limited to: Formulates and recommends plans for a comprehensive program of medical care. Develops the requirements of staff, facilities, equipment and supplies needed to support an integrated program, utilizing necessary reviews and controls. Appraises the effectiveness of the various medical programs in meeting the needs of patient care. Promotes the development of health care professionals through counseling, mentoring, teaching and encouraging self-assessment. Works with the Executive Leadership Team to ensure that facility programs reflect the mission and priorities of VHA and VA. Accomplishes clinical program goals consistent with available resources and participate in the allocation of facility resources and modification of programs to best meet the needs of the Veteran population. Monitors and promotes compliance with VA regulations and professional standards pertaining to outside professional activities and ethical conduct. Creates and promotes a High Reliability Organization, fostering an environment of system oriented continuous quality improvement, within which program and quality of care effectiveness are evaluated. Provide oversight of the credentialing and privileging facility to include oversight of regulatory and legal issue, monitoring medical staff and other licensed independent practitioner's compliance and quality of practice. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: Ad-Hoc (Occasional or Irregular basis) Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
