Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in San Rafael, California. In this role, you will manage key accounting functions and ensure accurate financial reporting for assigned properties. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under deadlines. Responsibilities: u2022 Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and bank accounts for assigned properties. u2022 Prepare monthly financial statements and reports with precision and timeliness, adhering to organizational policies. u2022 Record and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial documentation. u2022 Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including assets, liabilities, income, and expenses. u2022 Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounting records, recommending preventive measures. u2022 Participate actively in the budgeting process, including attending budget meetings within your portfolio. u2022 Collaborate with auditors throughout audit processes, including final audit reports, tax returns, and surplus cash distributions. u2022 Provide recommendations for expense and revenue adjustments to site managers. u2022 Research and resolve general ledger and financial discrepancies, ensuring long-term solutions. u2022 Track replacement reserve requests and approvals for assigned properties, maintaining accurate records. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the non-profit sector. u2022 Proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions. u2022 Strong knowledge of accounting software, including Microsoft Office and Yardi. u2022 Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. u2022 Skilled in financial analysis and problem-solving. u2022 Effective planning and prioritization abilities to manage multiple tasks. u2022 High level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and integrity. u2022 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
