Description We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. This contract-to-permanent position requires a detail-oriented individual with expertise in managing payroll operations for multi-state and international teams. This role will ensure compliance with all applicable regulations while providing exceptional support to employees and collaborating across departments to maintain accurate payroll systems. Responsibilities: u2022 Process payroll accurately, ensuring all employee earnings, deductions, and taxes are properly calculated and submitted. u2022 Conduct detailed audits of payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies. u2022 Manage complex pay calculations, including retroactive payments, bonuses, and commissions. u2022 Support payroll requirements across multiple states and countries, ensuring compliance with local laws. u2022 Configure payroll systems to maintain accurate pay codes and deduction rules. u2022 Perform pre- and post-payroll audits to guarantee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. u2022 Address escalated payroll inquiries, providing advanced analysis and solutions. u2022 Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Benefits teams to ensure seamless data integration and accuracy. u2022 Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of payroll reports and general ledger accounts. u2022 Develop and maintain payroll documentation, including standard operating procedures and process guides. Requirements u2022 Proven experience managing full-cycle payroll for organizations with over 500 employees. u2022 Expertise in handling multi-state payroll and local payroll tax compliance. u2022 Familiarity with Workday ERP and Workday Payroll systems. u2022 Knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations is a plus. u2022 Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies. u2022 Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure payroll accuracy. u2022 Experience in conducting audits and supporting year-end payroll processes. u2022 Proficiency in developing payroll reports and automating workflows.
