Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Silver Spring, Maryland. In this contract position, you will play a critical role in managing and reconciling financial accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting expert with strong attention to detail who thrives in a dynamic, non-profit environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations to verify financial data accuracy. u2022 Conduct thorough bank reconciliations to ensure timely and precise reporting. u2022 Manage accounts payable processes, including reviewing and processing invoices. u2022 Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records. u2022 Analyze financial data and provide insight into discrepancies or trends. u2022 Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. u2022 Assist in the monthly and year-end financial closing processes. u2022 Support audits by providing necessary documentation and resolving inquiries. Requirements u2022 Extensive experience with general ledger accounting. u2022 Proficiency in preparing and posting accurate journal entries. u2022 Strong skills in account reconciliation and resolving discrepancies. u2022 Knowledge of bank reconciliation processes and tools. u2022 Familiarity with accounts payable systems and procedures. u2022 Ability to analyze complex financial information and identify trends. u2022 Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. u2022 Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams.
