The SICU/CVICU at Weston supports patients with perioperative management needs, post-operative complications, and those requiring specialized intensive care after surgery.As a PCNA on this team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients.This position offers the ability to pursue educational advancement, higher positions and skills development courses offered by Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you have an excellent opportunity to start your nursing career and work in a supportive and caring healthcare setting.A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:High School Diploma or GEDBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross or must obtain during your new hire periodNursing students: required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross (AHA) prior to hireMilitary experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be consideredProficient in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an eighth-grade levelPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA)One year of patient-care experienceCustomer service, rehab or prior retail experiencePhysical Requirements:The position requires a considerate amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds.Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.The individual will be required to pull up or reposition patients in bed, lift supplies, place equipment or supports, and push beds throughout the hospital.The individual must be able to bend over to perform certain duties such as check chest tube drainage, check urine output, etc.The individual must be able to quickly maneuver throughout halls, stairways and patient rooms in response to hospital terpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory the event there is a need to evacuate the building, heavy lifting will be required to carry patients to safety.Mental Demands: Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department director, physicians and other members of the Healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers.Special Demands: Essential Sensory requirement - ability to visually assess patients and implement plan of care.Essential Technical/Motor Skill - finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination are necessary when charting, using equipment, and providing direct patient care.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Pay RangeSalaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
