Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations.Special Mentions:This position is part of Blue Origin's TeraWave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. TeraWave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Support the design, develop, and analysis of the guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for the TeraWave satellite constellationCreate and maintain high-fidelity simulations to validate GNC subsystem performance across multiple orbit regimes (LEO and MEO)Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate GNC subsystems with flight computers, sensors, and actuatorsPerform trade studies and analysis to optimize GNC system performance, reliability, and efficiencySupport hardware-in-the-loop testing and validation of GNC components and systemsDevelop and execute verification and validation plans for GNC subsystemsAnalyze flight data to assess on-orbit performance and recommend improvementsContribute to technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, and test proceduresSupport anomaly investigations and resolution for GNC-related issuesCollaborate with cross-functional teams including systems engineering, electrical, mechanical, and software engineeringMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field3+ years of experience in spacecraft GNC systems design, development, and analysisDemonstrated experience with control system design, analysis, and implementationProficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, or similar simulation and analysis toolsExperience with orbit determination and propagation techniquesKnowledge of spacecraft dynamics and control theoryStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or related fieldExperience with satellite constellation design and operationsFamiliarity with optical communications systems and pointing requirementsKnowledge of Q/V-band RF communications systemsExperience with multi-orbit constellation managementProficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or PythonExperience with hardware-in-the-loop testing of GNC systemsKnowledge of space environment effects on spacecraft dynamicsExperience with fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) techniquesFamiliarity with space mission analysis and design toolsPrevious experience with satellite formation flying or constellation managementWhy Blue OriginAt Blue Origin, we're not just building the future of space exploration-we're revolutionizing global connectivity through our TeraWave satellite network.
