Overview: The mission of the City of Boston Assessing Department is toaccurately collect data, assess property at its full and fair cashvalue, and provide prompt and courteous service to the public. TheAssessing Department is a leader in municipal valuation and seeks tomaintain that status by attracting talented, experienced individuals toour core staffing. The backbone of the City?s valuation system, AssessorTrainees will develop a deep knowledge of our neighborhoods and propertyvaluation. Work includes frequent trips throughout the City to reviewand update property attributes and converse with our residents.Attention to detail is a must. Trainees are provided with theopportunity to become Accredited Assessors through coursework providedby the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers (MAAO) and theInternational Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Position reportsto the unit manager or assigned supervisor of a higher grade.Responsibilities: Provide prompt, professional, and courteous assistanceto the public. Perform property inspections and collect and verify datawith a high level of accuracy. Review sales transactions. Reviewcommercial property submissions, such as inventory listings or incomeand expense data. Data entry and analysis. Respond to constituentquestions on their property values. Willingness to travel to all Cityneighborhoods. Perform related work as required. Minimum EntranceQualifications: A Massachusetts Accredited Assessor designation isrequired; the accreditation can be obtained on the job during the firstthree (3) years of employment. Must have and maintain a current, validMassachusetts Driver's License, and a safe driving record. Ability toexercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job. ABachelor?s degree is preferred. Strong interpersonal, organizational,oral, and written communication skills. Basic math and analytic ability.Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred. Proficient with MicrosoftOffice, and Google Suite a plus. CORI check required BOSTON RESIDENCYREQUIRED Terms: Union/Salary Plan/Grade: AFSCME/RA-14 Hours per week:35, Monday ?
