Wages and Benefits $48,000 $58,000 annual salary; sick leave is available along with personal days; in addition, for school employees, school breaks are paid; PCYC offers competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA), and options for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and long-term disability insurance. PCYC sponsors a retirement plan with 25% match on your first 4% and immediate vesting. Schedule This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule, generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Social Studies Teacher at PCYC position supports Minneapolis youth who face significant barriers by creating a positive, inclusive learning environment that fosters students personal, social, and academic growth in the PYC Arts & Tech contract alternative school. Responsibilities will include the following: Classroom Instruction and Implementation Teaching the required curriculum in alignment with school and district expectations. Developing and implementing curriculum that is inclusive of the arts and technology. Maintaining a school and classroom environment that is safe, respectful, and conducive to learning. Participating in parent-teacher conferences and family engagement opportunities. Attending school functions, community events, and student productions at the Capri. Modeling appropriate behavior and respectful interpersonal relationships with students and colleagues. Providing classroom coverage as assigned to support school operations. Identifying individual student needs and differentiating curriculum accordingly. Developing and implementing project-based learning experiences. Identifying students academic needs and creating recovery plans to support progress. Providing effective and timely feedback to students to support learning and growth. Performance Management Upholding and enforcing administrative procedures, school rules, and agency policies with students and the public. Collaborating with the Educational Leadership Team to address student achievement, behavior, attendance, and suspension matters in accordance with PYC policies and procedures. Participating in staff, team, and committee meetings and sharing responsibility for follow-up tasks and initiatives. Collaborating with the Educational Leadership Team and peers to plan, develop, and implement best practices based on student needs and abilities. Administrative Responsibilities Maintaining thorough and ongoing awareness of, and implementing, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), 504 Plans, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Documenting curriculum alignment and state standards. Attending and participating in assigned IEP meetings. Accurately completing attendance records and incident reports. Ensuring the timely evaluation of student work. Keeping daily notes that document behavior concerns, accomplishments, and areas of focus. Maintaining student records an submitting progress reports and quarterly grades by established deadlines. Communicating with parents and families as needed to support student success. Maintaining a Continual Learning Plan (CLP) for all advisees.
