JOB TITLE: Wheelchair Van Driver------------------------------------------------------------------------ GENERAL DESCRIPTIONOperates a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to transport clients who use wheelchairs. Ensures safe, timely, and professional transportation services while providing a comfortable experience from point of origin to final destination. Represents the organization professionally while on duty.------------------------------------------------------------------------ ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Transports clients throughout assigned service areas using GPS navigation devices.- Greets clients in a friendly and professional manner, creating a positive and safe environment during transport.- Transports clients in wheelchairs up or down ramps and ensures wheelchairs are safely secured during transport.- May work with clients who have developmental or physical disabilities and may be required to obtain applicable certifications or training.- Provides door-to-door assistance, including escorting clients to and from residences, facilities, or appointment locations.- Assists clients with carrying personal belongings and providing arm assistance when appropriate.- Accepts responsibility for client documentation and ensures delivery to the appropriate destination.- Maintains professional interactions with staff at facilities and locations served.- Secures various types of mobility devices, including manual wheelchairs, power chairs, and scooters.- Loads and secures multiple mobility devices when required.- Ensures all mileage is recorded accurately.- Collects required documentation or vouchers as directed.- Communicates with dispatch regarding client status, delays, or availability throughout the day.- Conducts vehicle pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and fully operational.- Conducts vehicle post-trip inspections to ensure no clients or belongings remain on the vehicle and to document vehicle condition.- Maintains interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle throughout the day.- Follows all applicable driver policies, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.------------------------------------------------------------------------ WORKPLACE COMPETENCIES- Adaptability: Adjusts effectively to changes, delays, and unexpected situations.- Attendance & Punctuality: Maintains consistent attendance and timeliness.- Dependability: Follows instructions, completes tasks independently, and remains accountable for responsibilities.- Initiative: Willingly assists others and takes proactive steps when support is needed.------------------------------------------------------------------------ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
