Apply today for our Registered Nurse Transition Nursery PRN opening and continue to learn Days Job Summary and Qualifications We are seeking a Transition Newborn Nursery RN to join our healthcare team..The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as u201cAssess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.u201d The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organizationu2019s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance. In this role you will: + Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patientu2019s health or situation + Advocate for patients as part of the interdisciplinary team + Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient and the situation + Ensure effective care and use of time, supplies, and equipment. + Educate patients regarding their medications, procedure and treatments, providing patients and their families with support throughout their stay. + Assigns initial Apgars and facilitates skin-to-skin bonding for a minimum of 1 hour + Assists with breastfeeding or feeding choices during the first hour and beyond prior to moving to M/B. + Assesses and re-assesses the newborn(s) respiratory and airway support using neonatal resuscitation program guidelines, thermoregulation, and metabolic stability as appropriate. + Develops care plans that promote, facilitate, and maintain newborn wellness. + Provides newborn care at the bedside while promoting skin to skin, breastfeeding, bonding and transition support. + Administers medications as needed, provides neonatal abstinence scoring and urine/meconium collection as needed, as well as, blood glucose and Sa02 monitoring, lab work. + Implements appropriate patient care interventions, and evaluates patient care interventions to ensure appropriate level of care is provided. + Communicates effectively with other departments in an effort to resolve issues ensuring efficient and optimal patient care outcomes. + Acts as mentor to Labor and Delivery & Mother-baby Nurses as the relief to transition care during busier times. + Ensures that physician orders for the NB are noted and correctly transcribed. + During adoption follows maternal requests for STS and bonding. Follows the guide of the delivering mom in allowing the adoptive parents the same experience. + Surrogacy adoption is also given the opportunity for STS bonding. Job Requirements: + Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation. + 1 year of RN experience within Women's Services Preferredu2014Nursery, L&D, NICU + BSN is preferred + Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date + Associate Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma + Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 4 months of employment start date + Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained before employment start date + STABLE certification within 6 months + NIH Stroke Scale within 30 days Benefits UCF Lake Nona Hospital, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
