Examples of Work (Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.) + Learns basic inspection principles and practices; + Learns what constitutes violation of City Code; + Learns to research ownership, zoning, building, vehicle and other records to obtain the information necessary to process an order or notice; + Learns to perform record searches to determine if necessary permits have been issued; + Accompanies Property Maintenance Inspector on daily inspections, court appearances, etc.; + Attends classroom-training sessions on code enforcement policies and procedures; + Participates in moot court, computer/software user training and other training exercises; + Learns to operate video equipment, digital cameras, computers and carbon monoxide detection equipment to record information; + Learns to maintain simple logs; + Learns to inspect the interior of residential and non-residential property for conformance to minimum City Code requirements; + Conducts exterior inspections of properties for violations pertaining to weeds, litter and stored vehicles, and issues notices and orders related to those violations; + Maintains appropriate records and files of inspections made, and of notices and/or orders issued; + May serve orders and notices for Property Maintenance Inspection staff. Minimum Qualifications Completion of the twelfth school grade and two (2) years of experience in public contact, community relations, code or law enforcement, or planning or zoning related activities. Substitution(s): College education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis. A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) will be accepted in lieu of the twelfth school grade completion. Possession of a valid driveru2019s license. By completion of the probationary period, incumbents must possess certification as a Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector from the International Code Council. Test/Job Contact Information The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be used to create aNEW, OPEN COMPETITIVE, eligible list for this classification. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this exam within the filing period and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. Questions regarding this process can be directed to the Test Center at 614-645-7439. The examination process will consist of a computerized exam weighted 75% covering Oral Comprehension, Public Relations, Map Reading, Mathematics Related to Time and Area, Applying Procedures and Codes, and Outlook 2016/2019; and a situational judgement test weighted 25% covering customer interactions. The exam is expected to be administered in March. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time. All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years. If a candidate's name is certified and the candidate is to be considered for employment, the hiring process will include one or more interviews, a criminal background check, and a pre-employment drug test.
