This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Emergent Mental Health Services LLC (EMHS) is seeking **Counseling and Social Work Interns** to join our Crisis-Lite outpatient behavioral health clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. This is an **unpaid academic internship** designed for graduate-level students completing required practicum or internship hours as part of an accredited Counseling or Social Work program. EMHS provides **same-day, short-term mental health stabilization** services for adults (18+) experiencing emotional or behavioral distress who do not require inpatient hospitalization. Services are voluntary, non-acute, and time-limited. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a structured, supervised clinical environment while working alongside licensed clinicians and an interdisciplinary care team. **Duties & Responsibilities (Under Supervision)** - Participate in crisis-focused individual counseling sessions - Observe and co-facilitate psychoeducational and stabilization groups - Support behavioral health intakes and psychosocial assessments - Assist with crisis screening and safety planning - Participate in case management, care coordination, and referrals - Complete clinical documentation in an electronic health record (EHR) - Attend supervision sessions, staff meetings, and trainings Responsibilities increase gradually based on competency, supervision, and academic requirements. **Qualifications** - Currently enrolled in an accredited **Counseling or Social Work graduate program** - Approved by academic program for internship or practicum placement - Interest in community mental health and crisis-oriented services - Professional, reliable, and open to feedback - Ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced environment **Supervision & Training** - On-site supervision provided by **licensed LPCs and LCSWs** - Regular individual and/or group supervision - Ongoing feedback focused on learning, ethics, and professional development - Midterm and final evaluations completed in coordination with academic programs **Job Details** - **Location:** Phoenix, AZ (On-site) - **Job Type:** Internship / Academic Placement - **Hours:** 700900 total hours (aligned with school requirements) - **Duration:** Approximately 9 months - **Compensation:** Unpaid academic internship - **Tentative Start Date:** Late April Early May 2026 (flexible based on academic calendar) **Additional Requirements** - Background check required prior to start (per AHCCCS and Arizona regulations) **Scope Clarification** This internship does **not** involve long-term outpatient therapy, independent clinical decision-making, inpatient services, or involuntary treatment.
