Job Description

The Pharmacy Division is dedicated to ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication use while collaborating with healthcare professionals to achieve optimal drug therapy outcomes. The Ideal candidate is a highly collaborative pharmacy professional with either a Doctorate of Pharmacy or Bachelor's of Pharmacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology pharmacy operations, quality, and education. This individual demonstrates expertise in infusion pharmacy practices, regulatory standards, and continuous quality improvement, while effectively supporting Cancer Network operational initiatives and partner site engagement. They excel at building and maintaining relationships with external pharmacy partners, contributing to due diligence assessments, workflow optimization, and the development of best practices aligned with MD Anderson standards. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to professional accountability, with the ability to support education initiatives, facilitate collaborative forums, and contribute to oncology pharmacy projects that ensure high-quality, compliant cancer care delivery across network sites. Our employees enjoy a benefits package designed to support every stage of life, starting on day one. • Paid employee medical benefits (zero premium) starting on first day for employees who work 30 or more hours per week • Group Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D and Disability coverage • Paid time off (PTO) and Extended Illness Bank (EIB) paid leave accruals • Paid institutional holidays, wellness leave, childcare leave, and other paid leave programs • Tuition Assistance Program after six months of service • Teachers Retirement System defined-benefit pension plan and two voluntary retirement plans • Employer paid life, AD&D and an illness-related reduced salary pay program • Extensive wellness, recognition, fitness, employee health programs and employee resource groups Job Specific Competencies Cancer Network Operations and Projects • Updates the due diligence partner site pharmacy assessment tool, with a focus on infusion pharmacy. • May support onsite assessments and provide detailed reports of findings. • Supports pharmacy workgroup meetings during the pre operations period to address critical gaps in pharmacy operations, as needed. • Provides MDA resource tools to partner sites and/or the Director, Pharmacy Cancer Network Programs, to support contract deadlines. • Supports the development of pharmacy operational requirements in collaboration with the Director, Pharmacy CN Programs, for prospective new members not yet ready for due diligence. • Engages and strengthens relationships with pharmacy partner sites through effective communication, both in person (Houston) and virtually. • Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality pharmacy operational practices across Cancer Network partner sites. • Reviews partner pharmacy processes and best practices and facilitates collaboration with MD Anderson pharmacy staff for adoption, as appropriate. • Contributes to the development and maintenance of Cancer Network partner pharmacy information portfolios. Cancer Network Pharmacy Education and Quality • Provides assistance with enhancements and updates to the Connect Pharmacy Content page on the Cancer Network Collaboration Platform. • Assists in identifying appropriate MD Anderson Pharmacy Education resources to support partner site competencies. • Participates in planning and implementation of Cancer Network Pharmacy Roundtable session topics in collaboration with MD Anderson Clinical Pharmacy Specialist leads. • Works with partner sites to lead pharmacy roundtable discussions and promote engagement among network pharmacists. • Demonstrates professional accountability by maintaining current knowledge of pharmacy best practices. • Maintains active involvement in professional pharmacy organizations (e.g., HOPA, ASHP). • Updates MD Anderson workflows using Visio and guidance documentation to help partners understand key quality steps across operational and clinical areas. • Supports MD Anderson Clinical Pharmacy Specialist work on the Chemotherapy Assessment Quality Project to ensure timely completion. • Ensures quality treatment plan development and alignment with MD Anderson build criteria. Education Required: Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy. or Required: Pharm.D. degree from an accredited college of pharmacy. Work Experience Preferred: Six months experience in a hospital pharmacy. Licenses and Certifications Required: RPH - Registered Pharmacist Texas State Board of Pharmacy. within 90 Days and Required: BLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association (AHA). within 30 Days and Required: ACLS - Adv Cardiac Life Support American Heart Association (AHA).
