JOB REQUIREMENTS: Responsibilities Handles and processes specimens,ensuring proper identification. Performs serologic and molecular testsaccording to SOP on clinical, study, QC and research samples. Recognizesand resolves procedural discrepancies in testing results. Interpretslaboratory results. Reports laboratory results. Maintains accurate andcomplete records. Perform reagent preparation Operates laboratoryequipment correctly and perform quality control testing on equipment andreagents. Knows acceptable levels of performance. Maintains controlledinventories of reagents and laboratory materials. Performs secondaryreview and release of test results and provides feedback to ensureaccurate reporting of results. Adheres to all required FDA, AABB(American Association of Blood Banks),CLIA (Clinical LaboratoryImprovement Act), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration),and CAP (College of American Pathology) regulations. Follows cGMP(current Good Manufacturing Practices) standards. Support implementationand validation of new tests/equipment. Assists in the training of newpersonnel and training of students. Assess competence of clinicaldiagnostic lab staff if applicable Provides on call and/or overtimecoverage as required. Listens, anticipates and responds to the needs ofinternal and external customers and strives to meet municates clearly, accurately and respectfully with customers,donors, and colleagues, ensuring that necessary information is shared.Notifies management or other appropriate persons of problems or issuesas appropriate. Works effectively with inter or intra-department(s) andproject teams to meet customer needs and organizational goals.Participates in quality and process improvement. Performsother duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within thescope of the duties in this job classification Complies with allpolicies and standards Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree froman accredited college or university in Clinical Laboratory Sciencerequired Medical Technology (MLS/CLS/MT) required or science relateddegree with certification as a BB technologist required Experience 1-3years experience working in an Immunohematology reference laboratory ortransfusion service preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Workingknowledge of immunohematology and immunology theory. Skill in theoperation of laboratory equipment, instrument, computer and materials.Effective time managing and organizational skills to perform multiplelaboratory tests simultaneously. Maintain accurate, timely records ofpatient information and laboratory results. Strong detail orientationand analytical ability to evaluate and ensure accuracy of data relatedto laboratory results and patient information. Effective verbal andwritten communication skills, including the ability to conveyunderstanding of factual and theoretical information and makerecommendations to customers. Effective problem-solving skills. Abilityto work independently and as a team member. Licenses and CertificationsMLS/CLS/MT/BB American Society for Clinical Pathologist (ASCP)certification required or equivalent required Or; two-year degree froman accredited college, university or technical college in a MedicalLaboratory Technician program with an MLT certification and 4-6 years ofIRL experience required Tools and Technology Personal Computer (desktop,laptop, tablet) required General office equipment (computer, printer,fax, copy machine) required Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)required General laboratory equipment including centrifuges, automatedcell washers and incubator/waterbaths for performing clinical tests.required Molecular instrumentation such as light cyclers requiredPipettes (single channel, multi-channel, electronic, etc.) required pHme er, microscopes required APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Other:females, minorities, and special disabled veterans and otherveterans are encouraged to apply.
